    Bob Geldof a knucklehead !!

Best quote I've heard in years. At last, a man not afraid not to bow to Sir Bob.

    Ray is cutting this short:D

******Bob Geldof!! :( Why is D'Arcy quoting him as if what he says is Gospel?

Ray couldn't understand the logic at all. Got all hot and bothered in the end.
Interesting that Shane publically implied Gerry was a commander.

I think Ray is dumbfounded because Shane is an intelligent and articulate contrite man who was recruited at 15.

I think Shanes sense of being contrite gets a little shakey when he loses the cool.

What a pointless interview by D'Arcy. No objectivity whatsoever - just a mantra of "I don't understand, I don't understand". He really is a pathetic interviewer.

And yer man was right about Geldof being a knucklehead.

I got the feeling that he is sorry for what he has done but still strongly believes in the cause.

I got the feeling that his ego was shot to pieces when he realised that most folk regard him as a thug and not a freedom fighter.

I wouldn't necessarily agree that 'most' folk regard him as a thug.

The beginning of his interview explained why/how he fell into arms.

If you ignore the Why, you're fooked.

He was a good interviewee, let tell his story without an interviewer would have been interesting no matter how much you agree or disagree with it.

I did chuckle about Ray getting the fact in that he was an atheist.

Ray being an atheist would make you turn to religion!

Interesting that Shane publically implied Gerry was a commander.

.. and then Ray tries to get him to testify to that !
    Imbecile.

Pffft. Any idiot can express regret. I'm sure Geldof will be smarting at the knucklehead comment from this pillar of virtue.

I don't normally get the chance to listen to this show but I did find that interview interesting. I hadn't seen the TV doc so it was all new to me.

Near the end when Shane started talking about atrocoties committed by the brits, Ray reverted to the old chestnut. "That's a subject for another day."

When will that day be? I wonder.

The interview yet again proves how poor a presenter D'Arcy is. Examples :-
(1). The interviewee kept on talking so as to control the information he wanted out there. D'Arcy found it difficult to get 'in around him' so to speak.
    (2) he said that he was a loan operator with his letter and other bomb making skills and the placing of same yet he also said that when your typical comrade is on a front line mission that there are a 100 comrades involved behind the action. That assertion does not stack up.
    (3) the bombs he placed, apparently never killed anybody. This might explain why he did not bother to read the papers the following morning to read the effect of the outcome of his actions
    (4) most questions asked by D'Arcy were answered in a bluster of long-windedl comment that was very lightweight
(5)he never asked him about his superiors who controlled him , did he know about the ' social 'problems in the IRA, did he ever meet any of the top brass., is he privy to information that could contribute to the solving of some outstanding issues, etc etc et

He either would not have been able to 'dig' re the above points or he was overawed by who was in front of him
