He actually looks like he would rather be having acupuncture on his sack, than be sat there getting decimated by Mario!!

I think D'Arcy has actually made that Jack Nicholson farce even worse with his defence of it. As if it was the audience's fault that they didn't realise that when he said "Our next guest.... Jack Nicholson!!!" that we should have assumed that he was lying... like when he told us that he would leave the country if Enda Kenny became Taoiseach, or when he told us that Jenny was leaving TodayFM to mind the kids before turning up with him in RTE six months later.

So, in the according to Ray.... It's the audience's fault for being idiots, he was doing his usual top job at being an entertaining presenter.

    Mario's impressions are unbelievably weak.

It's staggering that he's managed to make a living from it for well over fifteen years.

His scripted stuff is actually really good (Gift Grub Live shows, proper sketches on Today FM, some of the TV show), it's when he's put on the spot that it all falls apart IMO.

That was awful by Mario. If you're going to get the digs in then they at least have to be funny.

Wow, Ray is "working" every day this week. Such selfless dedication. Worth every cent of his half a million paycheck

Why didn't you support a local business Ray.

    Now now, it's 7 weeks and 3 days, not 10. :P

Defining a week as 5 days, and not taking into account he worked X number of Saturdays in the year too.

We were ONLY getting 700 a euro on the rent allowance, we had to come up with over 300 euro ourselves..

They sound grateful to the state dont they.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,511 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Call be a bigot, but these 2 sound like a real drain on society, and to be honest all this, "we had to leave under a police escort" means we aren't hearing the real story here, just what they want to tell us.

Edit: no chance of Ray asking any difficult questions to these 2. Not a chance.

I am guessing no mention of any work, so surely these folk could take a home anywhere, any part of the country?

I presume that's 700 in addition to dole x 2, child allowance and any other allowances (med card etc.)?

We need to get to the nub of how someone who gets a 700 head start over other people still finds themselves unable to cover a few hundred quid per month rent. There is always a back story with cases like this, how far should the state go to facilitate each and every case (above the plethora of handouts that is)?

Can this family relocate to another part of the country, rather than waiting for accommodation in DLR council area?

If you think that's bad, Ray... Can you imagine having to pay for all these people before you pay for your own house. And not being able to have a second child (like they do) because you can't afford it.

Another person that had 4 kids that she couldn't afford!!!

Was the radio forum always an empathy-free-zone?

  • Registered Users Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

stupid question but could the three adults in that house not try and gain employment to make things better?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,511 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Slightly odd to hear a millionaire trying to sound sympathetic to poor people.

Sometimes it gets hard listening to the sense of entitlement in this country ALL THE TIME.

Most of us have to work hard, sacrifice and suffer tough times to get our own jobs and houses. Then get crippled in tax to pay for those who get everything for free.

And then we have a priest, a worker for one of the richest organisations in the world, pontificate about Gov and taxpayers not looking after people. Isn't the Church meant to be Christian and look after its fellow man? Not a chance of that.

Because these people don't take responsible choices, having 4 kids when you can barely support one is not responsible ..

I am sympathetic to those who suffer, but often many do nothing to help themselves.

This is a one-sided radio show....no-one to come on and say what the authorities are doing, which is spending vast sums on homelessness. You can want to belive that or not, but its true.

Ray,and Joe Duffy as well, rarely ask a question that might actually expose some of the truth.

Edit: this young girl has 4 children under 5 !!Sweet Jesus, she is just a drain on the state, can she not stop having kids? Continuing to bring young children into your life when your life is destined to be rubbish is child abuse. Why is she doing it? Call me cynical but Ray won't ask her this, and maybe she was doing it to make sure she would get a house guaranteed or else not have to work ever in her life.

I am sorry if that sounds cruel, but this kind of person annoys me.

I texted in and asked why Ray doesnt ask the obvious question, ie get off your behind, find a job and pay your own way like the rest of us

Sick of these wasters to be honest, and even sicker of bleeding heart media types like D'Arcy giving the self indulgent air time.

I do feel sorry for the hapless kids these people drag into the World though. Even though this fella 'on disability for life' it doesnt seem to affect his procreative abilities

Had to switch off tbh as I am fuming
