Feel very sorry for the woman who had to give up her child. She was only a 25 year old country girl and the father was a worldly 40 year old, who was obviously the local lothario. He made at least one
other woman pregnant as she had her son in Roscrea who was also adopted -
by a couple in California. What if he had raped those women? He certainly seemed to have had 'form'!! It would
explain her not wanting to meet the daughter.

I am glad that that TV programme is not
going to be shown by RTE. It seems to
me that the daughter of the adopted woman put some pressure on the grandmother who obviously did not want
to meet the child she had by the local
'Elvis'!! She did meet her, but was dragged there against her will. The
meeting was traumatic for the daughter
as the mother, who had eventually married and had eight children, did not
want to meet her. Why was she forced to do so? I don't think this was right. It must
be traumatic for her to have so much attention focused on what was a very painful part of her life.

PS: anyone who listened to today's programme will know what I am going
on about!! 😀
