Looking to make a move to a lakeside community in Clare or nearby. Thinking Killaloe or Scarrif but open to other suggestions. Friendly community to 'outsiders' would be top of the list.
    Thanks

Mountshannon is a wonderful place. It's on the shore of lough derg.

It has a really lovely park in the middle, woodlands all around, a marina, some lovely little cafes and it always strikes me having as a really strong local community spirit

Definitely killaloe. Lovely scenic location. Bit more happening than in scarriff. handy for limerick.
Mountshannon is fairly miserable in the winter as is scarriff most of the year!

    Killaloe/Ballina is ideal really.
You are a short distance to the motorway in Birdhill if you feel like hitting Cork, Galway, Dublin, etc.
The community has grown quite large over the past 10-15 years with clubs such as triathalons, running, rugby, soccer, badminton, GAA.
A great leisure centre on your doorstep and also mountains on both sides of the bridge with great walkways.
Not a whole lot in terms of rented accomodation unfortunately, if that is what you are looking for, but that is due to the popularity of the area.
