Which one of the above would be the best to buy. Also is there much difference between windows 7 and windows 8. Can I run office 2010 on windows 8?

Any one with any advice on these.

yep - see here for confirmation

As to which is 'best' - depends on what criteria you are looking for - I don't mean to sound smart - but is it cost/ performance etc what do you need a new computer - some more info might help you get an answer.

Just on a like per like comparison . Lenovo has i5,4gb and dell has i3 with 8gb.

Depends on what you use the pc for.lenova has faster cpu processor,
god for gaming,3d design. video editing,
if you are not a hardcore gamer go for the 1st pc,dell 3000.
You can always add ram to a pc in future if you need it.
    i prefer windows 7,
but you can download free programs that make win8 look like windows 7.
    http://www.classicshell.net/

if you choose to buy the windows 8 pc.

Windows 8 can be confusing ,it has a metro tablet like mode with large icons,
and a classic windows desktop mode.
And theres no windows 7 classic start menu,
but theres loads of free programs you can download to
give it a win7 style start menu, and file explorer .

i dont like win8 cos if i wanna use a tablet interface ,
    ill buy a tablet,
and i dont wish to use a touch screen monitor on a pc,
even if i got 1 for free.
    with any pc i buy.

FOR 99 cent of users ,
mouse/keyboard is more effecient to pressing on a monitor screen.
Windows 10 will be out in a year,
which will have a more classic style interface,
    based on mouse ,keyboard,
    eg more like windows 7,
Google windows 8 review for more detailed info.

You don.t have to use the metro type interface,
you can download the programs in the link above ,
To make it work like windows 7.

you can use a more standard pc desktop mode if you wish
by downloading the programs listed above .
You can ignore win8 tablet metro mode if you wish.

its easy to buy and install another 4gig ram , if 4gig is not enough for you.

IF you are on a budget go for the cheapest pc,for 229 euro .

Thanks for your help. I might get the Lenovo one and upgrade the memory to 8 gb. Presently have a Dell and I thought they gave good support and back up. Any experiences of Lenovo support.

Can I downgrade back to Windows 7 from the windows 8 on the dell computers and does the Lenovo allow me to upgrade to Windows 8.

When will Windows 10 be available.

    If for work, both fine,
    If for gaming, neither.

no reason to upgrade to windows 8,
A new pc with windows 7 will work fine.

Any program will run on windows 7.
There,s no reason to downgrade to windows 7,
windows 8 is more secure than 7.
Download programs in the previous post from me.
    start menu,etc
you can use it like you would use windows 7,
    just ignore tiles,metro mode,
use start menu, classic desktop mode.
i think windows 10 will be out in 2015,
unless you are programmer, designer, 3d artist,
etc windows 7 will be fine to use on a new pc.
unless you buy a new pc,with the os installed ,
you,ll have to pay for a copy of win 8, or windows 10.

No real need to upgrade to 8GB unless you're doing serious work.

I agree ,4gig ram, is enough for web browsing, playing videos, music,
    casual pc gaming .youtube, etc
if you want windows 7 ,just buy the pc with windows 7 installed on it.

    Microsoft have announced today,
anyone with a win8, or windows 7 pc can get a free upgrade to windows 10.
at least in the 1st year that windows 10 is released in.

MY advice is get the pc you want to,whether it has
    windows 8.or windows 7 installed .
    i .ve used 2 Laptops with windows 7 .
I.D be happy to buy a new pc with windows 7 ,
if i needed a new pc at the moment. You can upgrade to windows 10 anyway .
    whichever pc you buy.
