    Hey guys,

No thread on here about this, not that I want to be the one starting one but just in case anyone doesn't know...

Dr Murphy has passed away and the funeral arrangements are on rip.ie for anyone who knew him. Very sad news and condolences to his family, friends and students.

He wasn't very old was he?! Any idea what happened?

EDIT: never mind. I see he was in the hospice. I had him in first year biology. Nice guy. Sad news.

Must have been unexpected, I was supposed to have him for a module next semester. R.I.P

He did a lot of work in Africa and had returned from a recent trip with an illness apparently.

One of his collogues from his time at the International Livestock Research Institute has written a memorial piece about him. Link
