    Hey Everyone,
I am moving over to the UK next weekend starting my job on Feb 2nd.
I am trying to get a NI number.
Have any of you got your number by using an online service or have ye went to the job centres?

You can't get one until you are in the UK. Have a look at the FAQ in the London subforum for more info

    National Insurance number interview

Jobcentre Plus may write to you and ask you to come to an interview where you’ll be asked about your circumstances and why you need a National Insurance number.

The letter will also tell you which documents to bring to prove your identity, eg:
    ##passport/identity card
    ##residence permit
    ##birth/adoption certificate
    ##marriage/civil partnership certificate
    ##driving licence

You can only get a NIN via an interview at the JobCenter.

Sites like this one are a 'scam'. You pay £50 for them to arrange the interview.

There's no such thing as an 'online site' application, it has to be done in person. I have no idea where you got that information from because it's completely wrong. Well you can book online but you will be asked to come into a job centre, no one gets it just because they made an application.

Do you need proof of address to apply? Or is proof of identity enough?

I don't remember requiring proof of address, just identity.

By applying to vote you can get a letter to prove address.

Applying to vote in the UK now requires a NI number.
