I didn't see the show last night but saw a clip on fb with the single mother saying she opened the door of her oven because the gas went off.

People are just playing the poor mouth now.

If she's a single mother than she's 95% certain to be getting council housing. Dole + single family payments + childrens allowance.

If you're a stay at home mother then kids are not expensive. This isn't the 90's anymore. I remember having to be brought to the local town clothes store to get the expensive school jumpers. Same with shoes. Now you have Lidl selling them for a few euro. You have adverts/done deal for second hand things which people didn't have back in the 90s. The father is also probably paying something towards the kids.

I mean does anyone believe that this woman is so short on money that she has to open the oven door to heat the house yet she presumably spent money driving to the studio. Where are her kids?

Claire would be more in line to have some renters living in commuter towns on...they have to put up with insane rents + rise in living costs.

Tied into the general public sector pay deal so it was 1% last October and another 1% this October.

    Shocking, I know...

    Scrap the cap!

Whoever decided to tie politicians pay to the public sector is a genius.

Well they can't cut their pay because then the public service will be cut. And sure who ever complains about payrises?

The real act of genius was back in the boom days when the grade TDs got linked to was "upgraded". So they did get cuts but were still ahead of where they started.

    Scrap the cap!

No doubt it's a tough profession with long hours and poor job security.

How much would you think is fair all things considered?

How can people defend FFG and say nothing can be done overnight about property when FFG introduced a 4% cap on annual rent increases in certain places. Yet now they're saying it's terrible that inflation is 5% and found half a billion overnight to combat it after just a few months of high inflation????

4% inflation a year in rent is fine but 5% inflation overall is....an emergency?

€4 billion a year is nothing, needs more like €20 billion to make even a small impact, the money could be accessed for Covid easily.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

Ah lads....the FG TD saying it can't be done overnight!

And then this lad saying houses can be built for 150k if taxes were removed....as if developers wouldn't sell them for what they'd be able to get!

What's Eddie Hobbs doing on this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,639 ✭✭✭completedit

This is the most generic political system conversation possible; real bottom of the barrel stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,442 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Are we supposed to be a low tax economy with loads of head room for more taxes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

    LOL.

Hobbs thinks the MNC will be gone overnight. Not a chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭Mervyn Skidmore

Yep, I forget what politician said it but it was along the lines of, "we all know what has to be done, it's how to do and get elected is the problem."

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

That FG TD McNeill is looking hot there sitting on the couch. A vixen!

I could easily see Jennifer Carroll MacNeill  being the subject of an 'RTE investigates' in the future. Nasty piece of work imo. She'd be able to smile at you, talking softly while pushing the knife in slowly.
