Do we get an extra bank holiday for it? Rumours about it before I recall?

It's a safe way of saying that the 1916 rebels are not people we as a modern society should be celebrating, which is the truth. Let's just remember and pay respect to those who died.

Why would the "Royals" want to be there celebrating one of the wars they lost?....

    **confused**

Sitting outside the GPO watching tanks and guns passing by??....

    It was 1916....

I doubt it would happen today...

Giving this genetic gene as much publicity as possible can only be a good thing.

Fair play to the ladies involved.

They deserve great credit and I wish them good health.

I think it was suggested by them in one of the monumental speeches in recent years, maybe by QE when MDH was in London and our media interpreted it as a huge gesture of symbolism of two natures standing together and paying homage to past etc... Probably in reality, nice offer but we should focus on our own nation on that day

Bruton just can't seem to stay out of the limelight. If it wasn't this issue he's getting his knickers in a twist over, it would be something else. I wish he'd just disappear into the sunset and take his multiple pensions with him.

I never consider Claire Byrne a genious but she is an excellent presenter. Her mediation of these "serious" interviews and political interviews makes tubridy look like an over exuberant transition year debater. Saying that she seems very dry, doesnt she.

    Yeah.

Baby Dev on Vinny B now.
Willie O Dea on Dave Fanning (Ray Darcy Show) earlier.
    Micheal Martin on LLS
Mary Hannafin on Marian F last week.

I wonder will Jack O'Connor stage a dramatic walk-out tonight like he did on the Vincent Browne show a couple of weeks ago.?

Vincent is the biggest wind up merchant on Irish tv! Imagine trying to debate with him in a courtroom in his barrister days!

The set layout is bizarre though. Not saying Lucinda would be a great example, but isn't anybody else allowed show off their pins?

I like the set layout, gives the setting of a debate chamber with both "sides" facing eachother. I imagine the production company saw the advantage of having a glamorous lady like Claire not hidden behind a desk.

    Fair play to Bressie.
    He's genuinely concerned about this.
    And he's dead right.

Did he ever actually practise as a barrister?

Just a few years, apparently "it didn't suit him", if you get me!
