Stop citing the US as a comparison. This is Ireland. The US has zero relevance in this debate.

I'm voting yes but I am fearful that people are saying they'll vote yes but I think they could vote no at the polls.

'Marriage is between a man and a woman. It has always been' says the blonde lady. It gets a big round of applause.

I'm reminded of a quote by Thomas Paine: "A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right."

It isn't a family. It is a partnership.

Both me mother (yesterday) and a friend of 30 years (today) have told me they're voting no...disapointing...

Jesus. And to think some say the nation has moved on? Hard to believe so many bigots could be crammed into one studio.

Are we getting any debates on the presidential age?

Imagine how boring adjudicating the random selection was.

Jaysus, did the priest really need to wear his robes?

Across all parties, a number of TD's privately oppose this referendum

So that's 166 votes spoken for. Should the rest of us have an opinion?

Claire: 'The order of the closing statements was determined by a random draw adjudicated by an official blah, blah, blah.'

In order words, you tossed a coin.

I really think it will be a close run thing. People need to get out and vote

    I'd say it will be Yes 65 % - No 35 %.

It is a flawed amendment in the wrong article - but , people will not vote against "love".

The No side wants to focus on two men rearing children.

It seems to be anti-men if anything else.

    Yes the Bigot card

We want to redefine everything in family Article 41 - if you don't agree you are intellectually weak and shouldn't have a vote.

    Sums up the Yes side.

Jesus RTE really dropped the ball on ensuring the audience was unbiased. Ridiculous, I respect the views of all but as another poster said, it was a studio full of bigots.

Utterly appalling behaviour by the No side of the audience. But it did look like all of them were there tonight.

Any other debates scheduled before polling day?

  • Registered Users Posts: 49,731 ✭✭✭✭coolhull

Then why not allow FG TD's free speech on this issue - why the diktat from Kenny to follow the party line ??
You seem to have great confidence in what 166 TD'S might wish to speechify about. Good luck with that :(

Imagine if you were struggling with your sexuality and tuned in to see one of your relations, brother, sister, aunt, uncle etc responding hysterically and whooping and hailing Ronan Mullens No speech at the end like he was advocating the liberation of slavery...................

Oh relax, gay marriage won't affect you at all. Like you care about kids, what a red herring.
