Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Gus in the second round

I want Gus to win it just because he deserves the rematch, imo he was robbed the last time and if this is how he has to earn a fight with Jones so be it. Wouldnt begrudge Rumble a shot either if he wins but I just really want to see Jones step in to the cage with Gus again knowing what a battle it was the last time.

Gus in the middle of the 3rd by TKO

Ref definitely tried to play on a bit longer for the home crowd. Those two devastating uppercuts to the chin, Gus won't know what day it is until next week

So.. what do people think of the timing of the stoppage? :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Rumble will have Jones eating through a straw for the rest of his life if he gets even better.

The scary thing is he most definitly WILL get even better by the time he fights Jon.

Wish I had bet on my instincts. Had a feeling about Rumble

Rumble really is a motherfúcker. Scariest dude in the sport right now.

Arlovski is a tough bastard to hang with him for 3 rounds, forget the talk about how bad his chin is

Ref gave him every chance fight was past Gus's bed time and Rumble had him sleep

No he didn't imo. It was just good reffing. Nothing to do with home crowd.

Goddard is one of the best.

Sad to see it, the Swedes put on such a great event and MMA probably wouldn't be so big there without Gustafsson. Can't take anything away from Johnson though, that was seriously impressive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭SeanFrank

That was scary. Jones must be crapping it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Jones will be hiding in a cave for the next year to avoid this fight. No way does Jones want any of that.

I dont think so at all. Jones will use his reach far better than Gus did. Another win for Jones imo

Other than the Phil-fest, that was a hell of a night of fights ...

I wonder what's next for these guys?
Will DC fight Jones again? Perhaps DC v Gus?
    And Rumble v Jones....

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,813 Mod ✭✭✭✭riffmongous

    Did he say 30000 people?

Why the attitude? Any reasonable person would agree that the stoppages are earlier over the last 3-4 years.

    Attitude?? Lol what??

I was just wondering if you could provide references to back up your statements. If you can't, ok.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,689 ✭✭✭bur

If that fight was anywhere else it would have been stopped much sooner.
Rumble has some seriously impressive names in his win column. Deserves a shot at Jones.

To anyone complaining about early stoppages, just remember, it's better a fight is stopped 3 seconds early and causes controversy, than stop 3 seconds late and cause brain injuries. Nobody wants to see lads stretchered out of the cage.
