Running mac only software on windows

    Hi all,

    What is the best way to run some mac only software programs on a windows computer?

    or to set up the computer to be able to run both windows/mac

    Google for "hackintosh". A better solution is not to rely on mac-only software however.

    unfortunately it's unavoidable -

    why it was installed, would it be a case of choosing mac or pc when logging on?

    Whats the software? Usually the easiest option would be to run OSX in a virtual machine.

    final cut pro, would you do that with something like virtualbox?

    No that is quite a performance intensive bit of software. Best bet is to buy a mac, then put dualboot windows on it (use software called parallels for this I think).

    You can put macos on a pc but there are lots of technical issues you might run into, it's much easier the other way around.

    If your work insists that you use this software then they should give you a mac. If it's for personal use then just use different video editing software.

    Nah, as above you have two good options:
    A. Buy a mac pro
    B. Learn PremierPro and AE instead

    It's not all that straight forward to run OS X on non-Apple hardware as they specifically go out of their way to ensure you can't do that very easily.

    Microsoft however don't care if you run Windows on a Mac or a virtual machine as to them it's just another PC.

    Apple are primarily a hardware manufacturer, hence they don't want to allow OS X on anything else except their kit.
