Took me almost an hour to get from Ballyfermot to Palmerstown
Took from 430 to 615 to get from Dundrum to Phoenix Park via M50,very heavy snow falling especially down southbound and again in the park--2010ish intensity while it lasted. No lane markings visible on M50 but at least no accidents:o

Met Eireann's take on it :
A band of heavy rain and sleet showers will spread southwards early tonight, snowfall becoming mostly confined to higher ground of the north and east overnight.

Hills/mountains could get quite a bit. Looks dodgy for lower levels though. We'll see.

There will be a small area of strong winds though.

Very slippy under foot there will be mayhem if this freezes

Strange that there's no snow/ice warning from Met Eireann since its still snowing in places and will be icy tonight. I guess they are writing up a new one.

Blackglen road is only what can be described as carnage. Very slippy. Thank god for snow socks. At home now, lucky me, looking at all the lovely snow waiting for round 3.

A further clump of precip is intensifying, slap bang into Dublin within the hour, all of Dublin in play.

New warning is out. Valid from 6-9pm. I guess they are not expecting any low level snow from that low coming down tonight.

Such a day! In Navan this morning, lashing snow but had to go to meeting in dublin, was raging to leave it. then Dublin sunny and cold. Then back to Navan and wet roads, a few showers, then hit Trim and boom whiteout, deliggghted :D:D thought I missed it. Sorry haven't been on all day here, this wasn't predicted really was it? For East I mean....

The commuter counties must be in some state right now for traffic.

There is about 5-6 inches of snow lying here on open ground, not so much around buildings as the strong wind is blowing it away. lots of thunder and lightning since about 3.30pm with 10mm hail at times, wind is increasing and is quite strong in gusts, temps have risen since 17.15pm from 0.3C to 2.4C but seem to be dropping away again now slightly.

Edited to add, this is my 666th post, the number of the snow beast :D

Dodgy enough drive home getting up the mountains back to roundwood. Wouldnt recommend it for the moment at least, for anyone thinking of coming up for a fix.

Just measured, about 5cm off solid surfaces, less on tarmac and concrete.

We've had rain here in Cavan. It was nice while it lasted. Pity it wasn't over a few days. Would have been nice to get the weekend out of it.
