Considering moving to Toronto

My self and the OH are thinking of moving to Toronto.

Can anyone tell me what are the different options for acquiring a visa?

We are both professionals with sought after skills and experience in the IT sector. A quick look over recruitment sites tells me there are plenty of jobs in our field. I'm not sure if many of those companies would be willing to sponsor either of us for a visa tho, I have no idea how common that is or how easy or painfull it is for a company to go through that process.

Do you need to have a job lined up there before they'll let you in? I'd rather not have to go on one of the year long visa's, if I move I'd like to be assured that I won't have to just go home a year later.
