Hi
I see two entries in my account for GOV DUTY ATM\POS each €5. Is this something new? Could you explain what is this?

    Thank you

Thank you. So if there are two cards in the account it is €5 each.

Yep. That's how they get you! :D No way to avoid it, all the banks have it.

And it is the government charging it and not the banks

    Hi folks,

Government Duty applies annually in January to your Visa Debit Card. Currently €2.50 is applied if you have used the Point of Sale functionality (including Contactless) and €2.50 is applied if you have used the ATM functionality. A total of €5.00 is applied if both functions are used at any time during the year.

This is a Government Duty and not a bank charge.

    Thanks
