    hi all,
Im just wondering about the houses in the steeplechase estate. Im thinking of buying in the area and would welcome any information on this estate. For example, are the houses well insulated, do they have cavity walls? Do you have to pay a maintenance fee?
    Thanks in advance,😉

    Hi,
my sister in law lives in the apartments (top floor) and the house always seems warm so insulation shouldnt be a problem. the party walls between apartments seem thin and noise from neighbours can be herd easily.

I also have a sister in the houses (3 bed with neighbours on either side) in the centre f the estate and they too seem well insulated, no front garden and very small garden to the rear.

The estate do have maintenence fees but not sure how it works. The houses have wheelie bins where in the apartments as there is a communal waste collection. the fee also covers green area maintenence.

Personally i would never buy in Steeplechase for a couple of reasons.
One being the parking arrangement is a joke. every person i know in Steeplechase has fallen out with neighbours over parking.

The way the parking on the street is layed out is an accident waiting to happen ie: children running between cars on an extremely narrow road. does not matter how slow you go, you just won't see them.

    Hi bitemybanger,
Thanks for your reply. I totally agree with you on the parking issue. I've been renting in steeplechase for over a year now and luckily enough have had no problems with the parking. Some parts of the estate seem very tight with cars parked everywhere.
I just think that if i was to buy in the estate i would prefer to have my own driveway or at least a designated carspace.

Bad enough having houses in a big city without proper parking, but to give planning permission to estates in country towns and not make proper parking provisions a part of the planning requirements is just nuts, so indicative of what when on during the Celtic Tiger. I hope the local councils have taken note.

i live in somerville in ratoath and it is a lovely estate. i live down the end where it is quiet so not much traffic. most houses have drive ways and there is plenty of green area for the kids to play. we have a residence association which we pay towards each year, they look after all the maintenace of the green areas etc. It is not an expesive fee and the green areas are always kept tidy and cut regularly.
