Extractor Fan Problem/Replace

    Hi,

    has anybody in Charlesland had any problems with the WC extractor fan? Or if they had to get it replaced, have they any recommendations for someone to do this?

    Mechanical extract fans will burn out after a good few years. They're simple enough to replace as it's just a matter of turning off the power (normally the lighting circuit trip) and rewiring another one in its place. Not too sure if this type of work is required to have a 'Safe Electric' electrician for it. If in doubt, get an electrician!

    Electrician is not required as electrics already in place and only requires replacing the 220 unit . Will pm you . I'm a bathroom fitter :/ tiler

    Agree.
    Replacement of a "like for like" unit such as this falls under the definition of "minor electrical works" as such can be carried out by a competent person.

    Here is an extract of the charter in the Electrical forum:
    Since the 1st of October 2013 it has been illegal for a non-Registered Electrical Contractor to carry out most electrical work in domestic premises. Refer to the Restricted Works Decision Paper published by the Commission of Energy Regulation (CER). As detailed in the above document “Minor electrical works” are exempt from this legislation. Further clarification on minor electrical works was obtained by email from CER can be seen here.
