10% paycut

My brother and his work colleuges have been just told today that they will all have to take a 10% paycut starting from next week. Nobody in his job is even sure whether they are allowed just do this. Any advice?

If paycuts are across the board it is probably a sign the company is in trouble and trying to cut costs to avoid redundancies. Your brother can call in his union but chances are the company will argue that they will have to downsize/close unless wage cuts are accepted.
