The toxicology report will establish what he took and pretty accurately estimate when he took it. If his medical team can back that up then it will depend how long he was in that condition and how much driving he did. If he can satisfy the court he wasn't driving like that, he will get off lightly. If not.....

Lets wait and see. In the meantime its just an embarrassment and a bad day for his sponsors.

it won't apparently. urine test only was done.

    http://www.golfdigest.com/story/tiger-woods-dui-arrest-florida-lawyers-outline-possible-directions-the-state-can-take-the-case-in-court

“A urine test doesn’t quantify how much or when you took the prescription drugs,” said Rob Melchiorre, a former assistant state attorney at the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office who is now a criminal defense lawyer at Perlet, Shiner, Melchiorre & Walsh, P.A. and also lives not far from where Woods was found. “You can narrow it down to a window—marijuana stays in your system 30 days but pills don’t stay in your system that long.”

The article refers to a toxicology report that will be ready in 2-3 weeks.

That is disgraceful releasing the footage.

Imagine he will get off with a slap on the hand ?

that's how they roll in Florida.
    it's under freedom of information.
even if the police didn't explicitly release it the media could access it.

view is that he'll take a plea for a lesser charge of reckless driving.

Are you not entitled to data protection - or assumed innocence - or even due process ?

I guess not - US is a crazy place.

Apparently they don't release the footage unless it is requested by somebody. Essentially it is available under the equivalent of a FOI request (open to correction on that).

Without wishing to peel the onion on this or cause trouble, what's the likely scenario for him here? Without wishing to speculate innocence or guilt, let's say what would be the legal consequences for reckless driving?

"Woods was given a breathalyzer test, and twice blew a 0.000, according to police. He also provided a urine sample for a toxicology test"

    http://www.pressherald.com/2017/05/2...ng-police-say/

the outcome results of the test is .... the report.

which will only confirm the presence, not amount or when taken of substances as was explained in the other article.

The toxicology report will be compared with Woods' own evidence about what he took and when. The combined information will give a pretty clear picture.

The issue is the timeline. His defence is that he suffered a sudden reaction and pulled over. He needs evidence to support that.

from my reading of the above they won't be able to tell that.

there many bigger issues in the world than Tiger Woods' feelings.

Lawyer explains how it would be easier to get off if there was no dash cam footage.

Police did not release tape out of vindictiveness, the tape can be released under Public Records Law, anyone can request it.

They will be able to tell quite a lot, especially when combined with other information.

They will be able to tell what drugs were in his system and if they were all legal and prescribed. They will be able to assess his claim that his condition was caused only by a reaction. Was this the first time he took them, or in that quantity or combination?

It will presumably be Woods' defence that this happened suddenly - i.e after he started driving. Such a drastic reaction to medication would happen within a matter of hours if not less. The toxicology report will answer some questions - and raise others.

Agree - and don't care what "system" is there. There is no justification for the stuff they are releasing.

They are treating him like a terrorist or something.

They are treating him as a guy who was DUI, nothing more, nothing less under Florida law where there is a Public Record law.

Yes we know that but it's pathetic the desire that sad sad people have to see that.
Yes he was arrested, yes he shouldn't have been driving etc etc. Deal with him and punish him appropriately but I fail to see what is to be gained by releasing these videos other than feeding the hunger people seem to have for "reality" tv in order to escape their own sad little existence.

if we had the same thing here in Ireland it would be a serious deterrent to driving whilst impaired.

Not unless you were well known. Doubt anyone would be interested in requesting footage of Joe Soap getting arrested.

That's my problem as well. Certainly treat him the same as everybody else. But putting the footage of the whole episode up on youtube is not right. Woods is in a bad place, and while he wouldnt have necessarily done a huge amount to endear himself to people in the past, he is in a bad place and I don't see anything positive about the media (who are mostly scum anyway) making money out of his misfortune.
