It is fantastic to see him at the top of a leaderboard .

Him being back looking so fit and well. Makes his whole illness and DUI event all the more mysterious.

Less than a year ago he had 5 different drugs in his system - apparentlly for pain.

Great to see him back - but what was last summer all about.

How has he no pain now - what has changed.

Tiger just hit it 343 yards uphill. Is that back fusion surgery expensive? :D

Same, let's hope he keeps it going. He's looking solid out there.

What a man. Cracking second round. What a sight to see having the GOAT back in action and at the top of the leaderboard

I'm not a fan of his morals or his behavior both on and off the course, and I was also sceptical when he tried comeback after comeback without much success.

I'm amazed today however by what he has achieved. Credit where it's undoubtedly due.

What behaviour on the course do you not like?

His humility in interviews and how he approaches people is most refreshing to see in this new Tiger. Maybe all what has happened to him over the last 10 years or so was the making of him. In other words he is much a better and humble person. For that alone I applaud him. Love to see him win this weekend. Imagine the viewing figures on Sunday if he was there or there abouts come the final few holes in this tricky of golf courses .

His golf swing looks the most impressive that I have seen Tiger play since 2000-02. As Tiger would admit he needs more reps. Well playing 4 out of the last 5 weeks is the way forward and that is exactly what he is doing and thankfully he has Bay Hill to look forward to next week also, where he has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational a whopping EIGHT times. Life is good for TW at the moment. Long may that continue.

He's not alone in this, but his refusal to shout Fore when the ball is rocketing into the gallery is disgusting. He's also had several dubious rulings/drops etc over the years.

On his form, however, I can absolutely hold my hands up, I've said several times in recent years that Tiger is absolutely finished.

I was wrong. His play in recent weeks and particularly these past two days has been nothing short of a shock. I never thought we'd see anything like this from him again. An interesting year ahead.

Maybe read the other fella's nonsense from the other week when he made the cut on the number but was so much more competitive than anyone who missed it by a shot

Admit it, you're enjoying seeing Tiger on top of the leaderboard going into the weekend :D

Haha! I actually am, it's great to see...some progress the last few weeks.

Delighted & absolutely shocked to see him competing at this level.
Thought it was months a way.

I wonder if the last 2 courses are tough tracks & not -24 score-fests have anything to do with it.

For anyone who forgets exactly what Tiger Woods is, or was......

Spieth now has more missed cuts in his PGA tour career than Tiger

    That's mental

Didn't he go over a decade where he barely missed any at all? Some of his stats from the 2000s were insane

I see he's third or fourth favourite for the masters now with most bookies. Anyone know what odds he was this time last year? 50s?

He’s always short priced for the masters. The field is so small. Even when he’d struggle with his game, he’d finish top 10 there. He was 20/1 for the masters when he first came back a few months ago.

Also, this idea of him going a decade without missing a cut is nonsense. I’d be a huge tiger fan but he pulled out of a good few tournaments saying he was ‘injured’ when he had a ****e first/second rd. Somehow, that’s never talked about.

He's short priced for the Masters because thats how bookies work. The more people bet on someone the lower the odds are. Typically, that leads to a pretty accurate prediction. Obviously its much harder to predict a winner in golf than football as there are more possible outcomes.

However, people like Tiger and Rory will always skew that betting stats. When Tiger came back in 2015, he had incredibly short odds. Rory is currently 5th favourite for the Masters, which we all know is bonkers. Why? Because the casual sports fan will always back Tiger and Irish fans are typically more likely to back Rory. This just shortens their odds. Betting on Tiger currently is always bad value because the odds are not a true reflection of his chances. People are betting on a name and not because they believe he will win.

Saying that, Tiger is someone who, based on performance and track history, deserves to be part of the conversation. Its mental that he's shorter than Phil, who is equally as good at Augusta or Thomas who is in the form of his life or a variety of other players but that's how betting works.

    Back fusion operation

I know, but the whole thing seems strange .

Anyone who I know who have had that sort of back surgery are rarely perfect from a mobility perspective. He seems to be swinging the club incredibly aggressive.

The treatments top athletes receive and what you and I can get are not the same. Other golfers had it done like Retief Goosen or Davis Love and I assume he had the best specialists money can buy.

With that said I'm sure his health will remain his number one concern for some time or even for the rest of his career.

Not sure what tournaments you were watching. Between 1998 and 2015 tiger withdrew from 8 tournaments through injury.
Of the 8, 4 we're in the final round and 1 in the third round. After the cut.
1 was before the tournament even started.
2 times he has withdrawn in the first round of a tournament once in the 2011 players championship after 9 holes and the other after 11 holes in the 2015 farmers.

It was 8 years he went without missing a cut from 1997 to 2005 and there were no withdrawals in this time.

Good post. I knew there was a serious stretch at one point where he didn't miss any, the 97 to 05 one was what I was thinking of.

Would love to see him within a shot or two of the lead heading into tomorrow
