Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Boiler Size

    Hi , we have started a project on a listed building, the house consisting of 3 floors will have underfloor heating in the basement,8 cast iron rads on ground floor and 8 cast iron rads on first floor , Most rads are 1000mm x 450 , the windows are single glaze and walls are 500mm thick with no insulation . there will be a new boiler house built beside the house and we will have 38mm F+R into plant room . my question is what size oil boiler , pressure vessel, and circulator , the house is app 3500sq feet detached . client only wants oil .

    Get your plumber to do the calculations for you. They will need room sizes, and alot more info to calculate

    The engineer has a 40kw gas boiler in the spec but client wants oil now, will a 40kw condensing oil boiler generate the same power as a gas boiler?

    Yes. 40kw is 40kw. If it's Nat gas then the client would be crazy to go with oil

    oil it is, and what size pump to use im not sure a 25/80 Grunfos will be powerfull enough

    Whatever is on the specs that the engineer did. If you go against what's on the specs and something dosent work then it'll fall back on you.
