Finished 3 there. What a wild ride and a great nostalgia trip.

A solid months worth of gaming there. Sad its over though.

Just finished 3, Jesus what a rollercoaster. Citadel DLC was just perfection, what a damn blast. Even the choosing an ending, it all seemed just right. Went red as that's what looks like canon in the teaser for the next mass effect.

Only downer, i ran out of save files so i need to complete the last mission again from last save point, whenever that is, to have the chance to start ng+ to upgrade a weapon to 10 and grab the plat.

I have so many screenshots saved i could make a photo album. ****ing love this universe and will honour it by staying Andromeda soon and doing my best to enjoy it.

Now that's just crazy talk, honour it by ignoring Andromeda :).

Okay it wasn't absolultely terrible and I am kinda tempted myself but I do have memories of being bored with large portions of it.

Downloaded Andromeda last night to have a look off it. Played a couple of hours of MP this morning, I’m short 4 trophies for the platinum and I wanna get it but I’d never compete an insanity play through and the MP is an awful grind. I’ve a level 13 human and a level 15 Asari so would still take a fair few hours to get either of them close to level 20 and attempt the gold missions for the trophy. The other 3 I’m short are related to single player which I could get fairly easy if I do decide to do a NG+.

I only ever got about 25% through as i was just bored playing it but i need to clear it before the next ME, which should give me a few years at least :)

I thought ME2 was my favourite but playing through ME3 has made me re-evaluate.

The gameplay is improved upon again and most importantly the squad and ship feels much more alive. Everyone in ME1&2 is stuck in place but the characters hop around the Normandy in ME3 and interact and there is more banter on missions.

If it had managed to top the suicide mission I might have agreed with you.

Yeah, i'd say 3 was the best game overall, but the Suicide Mission itself was the best single moment of the trilogy, as i loved picking characters to do specific roles, and then seeing them do it.
    • Garrus leading the fire team and holding that door...nearly lost it when he fell over afterwards.
    • Legion in the ducts opening doors
    • Samarra with the biotic bubble
    • Jacob back to the ship cause, you know, Jacob :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,178 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

I put Garrus as fire team leader, Kasumi in the vents, Samara with the bubble and Mordin back to the ship because that's the safest job, all they have to be is loyal to survive.

Edit: Found this on Reddit. Funny/creative reused assets throughout the trilogy...

I had Miranda as second team leader, Kasumi in the vents and Samara with the bubble.

Mordin escorted the crew back and they all had their loyalty mission done. Everyone survived

My usual choices for the Suicide Mission. I usually go for logical options that make sense.

Miranda or Garrus for Fire Team Leaders - I go with Miranda because one of her skills shows that the fire team has a better chance of survival under her command. I go with Garrus to avoid conflict between squad members who don't trust Miranda, and Garrus has more respect. Whichever member I choose for the first fire team I usually choose the opposite for the second fire team.

Legion in the vents - Better to use a synthetic than an organic in the vents as I would imagine they'd be able to withstand the pressure a lot better. Also being a computer they would be faster than an organic.

Samara for the biotic bubble - She's kind've the obvious choice since she has the power of an Asari matriach.

Thane to escort the Normandy crew back to the ship - I don't know why but it makes sense to me that Thane should escort the crew. Perhaps it's because I know he's dying so I give him a task that allows him to use his skills for good.

That's no way to play the game. If you're not actively trying to get Jacob killed, are you really even playing Mass Effect 2?

Mr disposable: ME1: Kaidan ME2: Jacob ME3: James

    They have absolutely 0 use

I like James, he's just unfortunate that he's along with all the OGs like Garrus, Liara, Tali so he doesn't stand out or get much use.

It's a shame he didn't have Kaidan's role because James is far more interesting and charming than that charisma vacuum.

I'm giving Kaiden a chance in my current playthrough, but yes I would generally agree. James isn't bad though, he's not just the musclebound cretin you assume him to be on first viewing.

The music in the Mass Effect trilogy was superbly done, but the Suicide Mission score is a whole different level of epic.

Suicide Mission is great but these are my favourites...

Just started ME3 last night. The combat feels so good now, especially the heavy melee attack. My combat drones are finally good now! And mobile gun turrets!

Fairly sure I started the shadow broker dlc on Mass effect 2 too early not knowing!

Does it really matter that I have started it so early? I just beat Vasir so I am at that stage currently that your on the way to the main base I think.

I played Andromeda a couple of months after launch, pretty much all of the fixes they ended up doing were in place by then and there was plenty of time for the post-launch dust to settle. With realistic expectations I ended up quite enjoying it at the time but I know there is no way I could replay it without damaging my impressions, especially after the ME Trilogy rerelease.

Pft, that requires accuracy and aiming! I'll leave that to Garrus.

My Vanguard is biotic charge > shotgun, shotgun > nova.

As for what's under the Quarian's masks, seems they're basically human...

I never played the refit DLC before (Where Anderson gives you his apartment) It's very funny. All the little side stories. Only wished I had waited a little longer before doing it (Didn't have Tali on my team then). Joker and Grunt's stories are especially funny. And all the little nods to the character and story traits
Do I really say "By the Godess that much?" "It's usually a lot of running around, shooting things and pushing buttons.... Shepherd usually pushes the buttons"

Just about to finish ME3 this evening (Just started London last night).

I remember my first run through ME3 years ago on the xbox. I ran straight to the end with no side missions etc. Got slaughtered at the final battle. Had what seemed like 10 ships :). Have7736 or something now including Geth and Quarians.

While the graphics (Especially the human characters) don't really hold up to a top-tier next-gen game, I'm finding it just as enjoyable as first time around. And really loving the combat improvements. I never really used biotics much. I'm more of a boring run-and-gun er

As for expendables: Yeah, for me it was ME1: Kaiden. ME2 didn't lose anyone but it would have been Jacob and 3 it would be Cortez or James (James is actually OK but, as was said, given a choice between him or the OG crew, he may as well have a red shirt on)

I wonder what the maximum war assets is. I'm currently at 8035 with the Citadel DLC and the final two missions left.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,183 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Think its 8600 or something like that, but you have to kill Wrex on Virmire and then betray the Krogans. You get both the Salarian and Krogan forces that way.

I ended up with around 8100 i think.

Playing the trilogy has littered my Youtube recommendations with Mass Effect memes...

    I'm not complaining.

    I'm not complaining.

The love I am seeing for Mass Effect online, really shows how EA really screwed up with Andromeda (which I don't think would have been that bad if it was given another 6 months to a year dev time and some more funding) and instead chased games as a service, micro transaction bull****.

They had there own Star Trek level franchise, and tried to cheap out on it.
