Great news! A few more announcements like this and at least we'll be somewhat on the way.

Hate to seem like we are never happy but one thing to note is that we have not had a huge jobs announcement like in other cities. Nothing above 150 jobs if I am correct?

Glanbia is a bit over the top, around 250 during construction, 86 when operating (now) but the spin off in truck movements repairs will be big enough.
and of course 6 cops to tear the arse out of the truckers 24/7.....

would love to know how 1600 came about at Glambia. As far as I know it was divided into two contracts which were awarded to Cork and Wexford companies very few of the sub contractors were from Waterford and most went home on the weekend, hotels were the big winners with project with the lads staying Monday to Friday going home on Friday evening.

Radley engineering had the bulk of the stainless work, a big slice of the cash , from Dungarvan .
There were lots of Danish Swiss Austrian, in specialist areas that are not done in this country.
The main cladding was precast not made in this county.
give it a break with this parochialism sh1t, David Flynn does practically all his work in Dublin now with Waterford lads, swings and roundabouts.
large contractors have subbies they know and trust and they tend to use them on jobs they win, it's human nature.
its not anti Waterford it's commerce .

Im not parochial in the slighted I don't care who got the job. Glambia can give the contract to the cows for all I care but when its spun by politicians and media as 1600 jobs for Waterford and the local economy its very disingenuous if not a downright lie.

I never saw that figure mentioned only in Manors post. Any official release I saw was the above numbers.
Found the link where the 1600 hundred came from, on reading it, wooly to say the least

TEVA haven't confirmed anything one way or another.

The building is obviously being done, and there will be at least some jobs, but 100 seems to have been picked out of someone's a*se.

This type of hype does nothing to help the overall jobs situation in Waterford.

TEva have taken back many redundant workers to fill some roles. For now there is no 100 jobs.Ifbthings go well down the road 2-3 years it may happen.
