I think Watson of England will be a popular transfer this week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 676 ✭✭✭Dietsquirt

I'm thinking of going overkill with English backs; I'll overlook Sexton for Ford, with M Brown & A Watson. I think England will put 50+ pts on the board this weekend. To be honest any of England's numbers 10-15 are seriously good shouts.

    Anyone else got some must-haves?

    Right.

Irish Times team updated . I didn't pay (enough) attention last week but with (only) 3 players maximum from the same team, it's actually (a bit) tricky to make transfers.

Ditto ESPN team. Not happy of parting ways with captain Agüero :P :pac:...

Good luck to you all guys and come on... Ireland :o ! PSA's fate could be/is in your hands :P :pac:...

True (though maybe not in the ESPN game) but outside fantasy I always liked this player. If he was not Italian he would be a true legend (though he's already one in Italy).

It is all my fault but somehow I'm "angry" at you :pac:. I wanted to get in the English back who passed 4 Welsh player last week before scoring his try and you "made" me think it was Watson  :pac:. Again all my fault for not having checked. Lost 15 pts here :(...

    -

Overall not a great day for both my teams. Not very fortunate too with Brown, Thomas & Best (even Fofana who even if he went back in did not look 100%). Only saving grace is my late decision to go for Ben Youngs in my ESPN team.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,305 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

Joseph in the ESPN game worked a treat anyway. Mike Brown going off injured after a few minutes was not part of the plan in either game. He's Englands best back by a mile and scored a hatful of points the last few years.

Dropping Fofana in the centre for Lamont is my other big play in the ESPN game.

Hard luck yesterday Iroced, it was nervous times for the last 5-10 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,262 ✭✭✭iroced

Hard luck yesterday Iroced, it was nervous times for the last 5-10 minutes.

Nah. We are crap. I was surprised how Ireland lowered down its level (or maybe I see you better than you are). Or... We really must have hurt you in history for your psychological blocking with us to be that big . Because on the back of the last 3 years unbeaten results you had against us and how poor we currently are in general, I still believe you should have crushed us yesterday. You made a hash of at least 2 great try opportunities that would have sealed the game for you and fully freed you from this mental thing.

As for us, we're just useless under PSA. We obviously worked a lot on the basics all week and were strong enough on them yesterday, particularly in defence but when it comes to building up attacking phases we turn into "disabled running puppets". The amount of knocks-ons, handling errors, passes into touch/behind the player/too short/too long/etc...:( was just desperating and is a disgrace to French rugby. Ah well 8 more months of suffering and hopefully we turn the FFR upside down and change things for once after the WC which, based on current form, could be a fiasco.

Decent scores so far for me in this round. Only 4 players to go in both games though. Can't believe I'm going into an Italy-France game with 2 Italians & 2 French and only 1 French back (shows how down we've gone :(...).

    --- edit ---

410th for the Round 4 and just outside 5k overall in the Irish Times game :D.

But only around 30k in the ESPN game (the "real" one since it respects the proper player positions and a much better balance of your squad) though I'd say there's a lot more players in this one.

    --- edit 2 ---

Oh and you won't believe it but... France won  :p. Yes yes we did  :D...

I'm 2nd in that but in general I'm not doing as well as I'd like in either. The IT is a write off though, much prefer having to pick specific positions in ESPN than the basically free for all in IT.

No Parisse for Italy is a serious problem

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,262 ✭✭✭iroced

Had a great day yesterday in both games (despite no North, I was "that" close to get him in) for what was a thrilling 6N finale  :D. Wales put up the tempo, Ireland kept it rolling and the best enemies offered us a fantastic game to wrap it up. One of the best day of rugby I ever witnessed. There was everything. The (general) quality of play, the attacking will and the thrilling suspense to decide this year winner. Congrats to Ireland in the end (with acknowledgements due to Sarto and Les Bleus :D :P).

So. Made a huge climb to claim the second spot in the ESPN comp and entered the top10 (7th) or dare I say a "finalist" position in "Olympic standard" :p for the first time in the Irish Times one .

Final positions. Inside top 15k in ESPN and inside top 3k in the Irish Times. Happy enough with that.

Finished 1k in the irishtimes, not great really there wouldn't be a huge amount of participants. There's really not much to fantasy rugby, should be more ways to score points.

Finished 1k in the irishtimes, not great really there wouldn't be a huge amount of participants. There's really not much to fantasy rugby, should be more ways to score points.
I'd say there's at least 50k in the Irish Times and 100k in ESPN. So 1k in the former is not bad at all.

About the game itself, it's deliberately kept simple since the 6N appeals to everyone, rugby fans or not.
I know there's a fantasy game for the Top 14 and the game and scoring are much more complicated and you can't perform if you have no idea about the sport and its players.

There's a team in my league whose players didn't even all start the first week and he made no transfers, finished 27k overall so there can't be much more than 35k teams. There's another team that finished 12k which only made transfers in GW1. Realistically probably not that much more than 6-8k active teams (i.e. made transfers each week).
