What is the easiest way to close an account from abroad? (current account + credit card)
Can it be done?

Thanks for your post.

I'm sorry to hear you are thinking of closing your accounts.

To close your Current account, please send a signed written instruction to your account holding branch.

In order to complete Credit card closure, you will need to:

a)     Ensure your credit card balance is cleared in full

b)     Cancel any third party direct debits/subscriptions directly with the retailer. Account must have a €30 (£23 if sterling card) credit balance to discharge Government Stamp Duty charges * if the billing address is within the Republic of Ireland

c)     Then contact Credit Card Services to request closure of your account at 00353 5677 57747. 
Alternatively, you can send a signed instruction of closure to Bank of Ireland, Account Closures Dept, Cabinteely, Dublin 18.

Our Credit Card team are available daily from 8 am to 8 pm (Saturdays’ until 6pm), 

Sunday and Bank Holidays from 10am to 5pm.

Once you have submitted your closure request to Credit Card Services please destroy your card.
