    Can anyone answer this query for me - does a smartphone still use 3G while it is connected to Wifi?

    Are you talking purely about data? It should take all it's data from wifi, but you can do 3G voice calls.

    Thanks! Yea I was just wondering about data.

    Meteor have been charging me for data for entire days when I know my phone has been in my house and continuously on wifi and they're trying to convince me that it was still using the 3G!

    It can depend on the phone and the phone settings.

    The phone can be set to auto-switch. So, if your wifi signal is low, then it will switch to 3G for data.

    What they are saying is possible.
