My friend has started a new job in Stephens Green and is looking for a one bed he is thinking of the Luas green line commuter belt Ranelagh seems a bit expensive to rent. He doesnt want to share. I am on northside so dont know areas. Anyone know what reasonably prices areas would be futher out ie whats Dundrum, Coper, Balally, Windy Arbour and Milltown like a quickish commute and not a crazy price would be ideal his budget is 1200 a month

For €1200 a month should be able to find something decent enough without too long a commute. This is a nice size in Rathmines not far to walk to the Luas line in the morning.

Daft have a short term lettings section, but the odds of getting something for as low as 1200 are very slim, as bills (electricity, gas, broadband, telly etc etc) tend to be included in a short term rate. They tend to rent by the week and they usually start at 500 per week. Most of the short term lettings are in D1/2 & D4. Tourists and business travelers are their main customers, so they tend not to be out in the suburbs.

Yeah he went to look at an open viewing last night D6 just to see and was about 20 people there. Mix of business people, working couples etc the landlord/lady can take their pick of people eager to put cash on the table straightaway :( Can't believe there is probably bidding wars on rental properties now. I rem you called in had a little informal chat and most of the time got the place. Was back in the early noughties though times have changed.

Yeah its crazy. We just moved and there were 60 people lined up to view it by chance we knew the landlord via our business so the day before the viewings started we went round and had a look and agreed to take it that day. Seems you either need to trump everyone money wise or just be lucky and find a way to get in ahead of them.
