Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

LG 47LB650V - is it worth the asking price?

It's time to replace my 8 year old TV and the wife is set on this one: http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-14-47LB650&brands=LG.

Is this a good buy at €680? Is there any other TV that I might consider? I'm not fussy about the smart part as I have a Chromecast and an Android TV box that I can connect to the TV to give me more options than the smart TV's smart feature.

    Thanks for the advice.

Yes, it's a good TV for the price. There are better sets in that bracket but not quite at that price. The next best set in that bracket would be http://www.powercity.ie/?par=10-14-50W829B which is quite a bit more but what you get for the extra money is:

    - slightly bigger set at 50"
    - 5 YW. I'd consider buying one for the LG
    - better TV for sport and gaming
    - much better sound if you don't have a soundbar
    - better build quality and design
    - more connectivity
    - free wall bracket
    - overall a better reviewed TV

Thanks for that DD. I forgot to mention that I need a swivel TV stand as I use the TV as a PC monitor as well and need to swivel it easily,
the Sony TV doesn't do that. We'll have another look at both TV's in the shop, see which one looks better.

I went today to the shop and asked if the LG can swivel and was told that it can't. The shape of the stand suggests that it can but the staff wasn't very helpful, he just tried to move it by hand, but of course the TV didn't budge. I know from my Samsung TV that there's a screw which can lock the TV in position preventing it from swiveling around.

I someone has an LG TV can please confirm if it's swiveling or not? I'd like to know that before splashing the cash on the TV.

I'm fairly sure it can't swivel but I could be wrong. I'd definitely go for this ahead of it

I know it's 100hz lower but you wouldn't notice it. The picture quality on the Samsung is much better

Thanks for that PC. I was in Powercity again today and found out for sure the LG's can't swivel.

I was actually looking at the Samsung you linked and think will go for it.
