Retrieving texts from an old phone with a broken screen?

    I've an old Nokia x2 with a broken screen and I need to retrieve some texts from it if possible.
    It has a small sd card in it but when I place this in another phone pictures, videos etc. will appear but not texts. The same happens when the phone is plugged into a laptop.

    Any ideas on how to go about this?

    Can the phone connect to a laptop with nokia suite on the laptop?
