Iron-Man Tournament: XGC Sat 14th Feb

Once upon a time every Saturday the XGC would be full of fighting games players, so full in fact it used to get hot. I think we even had a name for it.


I want to recreate that. The full-ness not the hotbeds.
I want to have a Saturday casual session, with a tournament on the side to encourage a focus to the day and give people are reason to show up.


The Iron-Man of fighting games:


Participants take part in 3 tournaments, points are allocated for places in each and we determine who the best over all is.
The Daley Thompson of the fgc.







Game 1: Ultra Street Fighter IV
The most popular/easiest to get into game in the scene.


Game 2: Virtual Fighter V: Final Showdown
A 3-D fighting game to shake things up.


Game 3: Street fighter III: 3rd Strike.
An old school 2-D fighter of a different flavour.


- Bonus Game -


There'll also be a PS4 set up with Towerfall Ascension


Cost: €5
Saturday 14th Feb, 1p.m


So, are you interested?
If all goes well we can do it again with different games in the future.


Also let me if you want a different date or have any input/suggestions..

Just a suggestion.

How about having Tekken Tag 2 for the 3D game and Guilty Gear Xrd for the 3rd game.

The reason why I think this would be the better choice is because there are scenes for those games. If this event is suppose to encourage people to enter tournaments for 3 different games then I think it would be a great opportunity for people to learn games that will be relevant in the upcoming years.

Tekken 7 comes out later this year (once you learn the fundamentals of a Tekken game it's easier to pick up any other Tekken game) and with people buying PS4s for SF5 why not learn the other big fighting game on the console?

I'll be making an effort to get down there. If there's anything happening in terms of Xrd, like casuals or whatever, I'll totally make it down. I'd like to see that game get more play over here. Otherwise, I'm very into entering a 3rd Strike tournament.

So yeah about Tekken tag, and GG, I'd love to do another one with them games.
Plus if you want to play them come along for casuals anyway.
That's the main focus, the casuals, tourney is just a bit of a laugh and a focus on why to come on sat.
