Water testing for hardness.

I am in need of a water softening system and am just starting the research. (some of the prices quoted have been frightening) I have been advised to get our water tested first to see what we need. We are in a hard water area and its starting to stain shower doors etc and before it starts to affect the appliances it is time…

Anyone any idea where I can get water tested in Limerick and if anyone has any advice or recommendations on water softening systems. Thanks.

Never heard of anyone installing a water softening system in Limerick. Buy a box of calgon?

We've had a water softener about 10 years now, based in county Limerick. Not sure of the brand, but we went with the plumbers recommendations.

Until we got the softener fitted, we went through 3 heating elements for the hot water tank, not sure how many kettles! Since we got it fitted we've had no problems/

Having tested many areas around Limerick, the Hardness usually an average of 200/250 mg/L. Which is classed as Hard to Very Hard Water. No need to pay out € 100+ for a water test. Depending on water usage/persons in the house usually a small domestic softener will suffice.
