    Also my first 70.3. Did up to Olympic distance last year - London Tri in 3:06. Early 30s, a bit heavier than I should be and I cycle like a slug through salted caramel.

    I don't know how realistic that is. Have a race simulation to do this weekend - will have a better idea after that.

    So for all the screaming and shouting about Dublin 70.30 all the people who screamed the loudest seem to have disappeared? Have they crawled back under their big mac boxes to regale all and sundry about that one time at band camp one Olympic distance race they did and "how they could have been a contender"?

    Was it all talk or is anyone actually doing this race?

    I'd say "hey they could be too busy training" but we know that's not the case.

    Also I never screamed :) I just said that I didn't think it would happen and even if it did happen in Year 1 by Year 3 its gone.

    Might see if Peter up for a double or quits if the race happens in August.

    Yes using the half as a chance to check out the course for the full - not really built for hot weather but it's more about the holiday after than the actual race.

    Mallorca 70.3 was a disaster. Abscess day before the race meant I woke looking a bit like half a chipmunk and in pain. Suffered on the run as just hadn't done the training as injury took longer to recover than expected. The heat was also too much (35c). Abscess then landed me in hospital 2 weeks later as it wasn't responding to anti-biotics. Meant more disruption to training.

    Dublin went ok but slow transitions and again the run was tough.
