A thin yellow line appears on start-up on my desktop monitor.

    It's extremely thin.

    It runs top to bottom.

It is about 4/5 the way across the monitor from the left.

It sometimes goes after a few minutes. But, it sometimes stays throughout the session.

    Any ideas for a fix?

    Thanks.

    D.

Change the graphics card refresh rate to 50 or 60 mhz,
if its an older CRT type monitor,
    Go to menu,select degauss button.
    try safe mode,f8 at bootup,
Select vga mode from safe mode menu.
    or just try 1024x768 resolution,
    set a different resolution,
lower than than 1 you use now.

    Check for loose cables.

try using a dvi or hdmi input if the monitor has a spare video input port.
    Instead of vga in.
Some monitors have a replaceable plug out vga cable,
try using a different cable .
Make sure the pc video card is not loose in the slot.
