    Cheers lads.

Got to lvl30 last night, and got the Defiant. It's great and looks brilliant, but i kind of wish i'd gone for the Galaxy class. I thought you could just buy it (as i think you could in the past for credits), but it's 80k dilithium...so no thanks. Ah well, levelling is quick enough to not have to worry about it for long.

Gonna start a Romulan later today as well. Can you level through PvP, or would i just be better off sticking to PvE?

The Galaxy is the worst cruiser in the game. Big time bad choice.

Romulan is just plain awesome to play mission and ship wise. If my fed wasn't maxed out in everything and geared up to the nine's I would swap over in a heartbeat but I love my Mobius Destroyer just to much :D

PvP is pretty much dead in STO and xp wise just run the story missions. Remember to run certain ones 3 times to get full equipment sets for the bonus abilities.

I guess i made the right choice so :P

I didn't even think of that, though to be honest i still don't know what i'm doing with kits and some other things. I usually just pick weapon rewards when given the choice.

With space weapons, always run the same damage type with matching consoles eg phaser cannons and turrets with phaser consoles.

For ground weapons use exploits ones on your character and expose ones on all your boffs. Kits you can mix and match abilities that best suit you but Iv not played as a low level since the revamp so no idea about the amount of choices you have under level 50.

Same here, If I was not maxed out on my Fed Char, id go back to playing my Rom char, the story was very interesting

I'm guessing they meet up and eventually share the same story? Mightn't be a bad idea to make the switch now, rather than wait till later in that case.

I really wish they made Doff progression account wide as apart from missing some very rare fleet consoles on my Rommy, My Fed and Rommy are geared the same but no way am I grinding doff levels up again.

You level up pretty fast until 50+ anyways and a Tac Romulan + cloak + space magic ship abilities + kick ass ships = OP as hell :)

Playing a lot more over the last two days. Got level 29 last night after finishing the desert episode which I didn't really like too much.

Still having great craic in game. Love my little stargazer but I guess that'll be swapped out next level anyway.

I got to lvl40 a few days ago, and got the Sovereign (Enterprise E). Wanted a change from the Escorts, and it's a lot of fun. Slow as hell to turn though. I want to deck it out in all phasers, and there's nothing better than a phaser barrage to kill an enemy (there probably is, but whatever) :)

Agreed running two at front and two at back, although I do have one torpedo tube both ends for a quick finish after dissolving shields in seconds. :pac:

I just had the weirdest glitch.

My ship blew up on the Tholian Web PVE 5man.

But my character respawned instead of the ship. so I had a small dude just slowly moving forward unable to move.

At launch there used to be a very good chance of that happening whenever you beamed down to a planet :)

Just hit 30 yesterday and got me Enterprise-D

Didn't get to tinker about in it though. The exchange gets a bit insane for weapons at Captain+. Ruddy hell. I need to farming and selling more loot :P

You can always try craft some yourself, and if you think captain is bad wait until you are buying fleet Admiral (level 60), anybody got a spare 25 million EC :p I kind of want some new shields

Managed to post this in the Star Trek 3 thread instead of here, but is it possible to outfit the earlier level ships so that they can compete in later levels? Ages ago I picked up the original Enterprise and I love the thing. But once I get to a high enough level to get a new ship with more slots, is it just going to become redundant?

It seems like the older ships are useless, though there does seem to be 'Refit' versions of quite a few ships at higher level. Probably all for stupid money though.

The older ships do essentially become obsolete as you upgrade. Even though you can equip them with higher rank gear they will still suffer from problems like lower base hull and shield modifiers and less weapon / console slots.

Only started working on my crafting a few days ago. And mostly I just do the research quests. At the moment I'm just working on unlocking more slots for it.

I'll just bounce into some PVE queues and try get a bit of gear that way. :)

Upgrade to fleet ships is the way to go. But yeah each their current ships become useless.

Run PVE STF, to gain omega or Mack gear for your ships and bonuses such as tholian, etc. Greatly improve your ship.

Hit 40 and got my assault cruiser. So much fun. Decent turning compared to the others, probably cause I threw a few consoles on to help.
Six phaser banks and 2 torpedo. Even though I'm running fairly crappy equipment in it I've had no probs downing anything yet. Really enjoying it.

Must admit though, not overly fond of the ground missions at all. Meh.

You really don't need to worry about gear levels and quality until you start farming STF's as for 99.9% of the episode missions the npc's are a total push over.

Ground combat has always kinda sucked tho it's miles better now than it used to be. Use expose weapons on your boffs and exploit weapons on your character. Picking the right boff abilities and class types makes a huge difference as well. I run 2 tac, 1 eng and 1 healer sci and rip through stuff :)
