Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,
How much on average for a new motor for an oil boiler (Firebird popular 82, 14 years old )my plumber is telling me about €300 for new one. Does that sound ok? I think it's a bit too pricey, then again I have little experience in plumbing. I might try and source a 2nd hand one, again a ballpark figure please. Appreciate any help regarding this query., thanks.

when you say a motor I presume you are talking about a new burner then 300 is a very good price

but you also have to factor in its not a case of supply fit and go this has to be set up correctly using a pressure gauge and flugas analyser to achieve max efficiency

what kind of issues are you having with your own that your plumber thinks it needs a new burner

imho that is quite an old boiler is it really worth putting that kind of money into it

If the motor, fan or fuel pump are gone replace the hole burner.

€300 to supply and fit a motor is about right, but it's 14 year old for the sake of the extra hundred or so replace the burner and you have 2 year warranty and piece of mind.

Did your plumber diagnose what part was gone in the burner?,I see alot of new burners fitted when the burner that was there could be simply repaired at a low cost.
