Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Manchester United will be without Luke Shaw following his sending off against West Ham at the weekend.

Michael Carrick is the only other definite absentee as he is still recovering from an ankle problem.

Burnley midfielder Dean Marney will miss the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

His absence ends the Clarets' 10-match run of naming the same starting line-up. Steven Reid or Michael Kightly are most likely to replace Marney.

Burnley have won just one of the last 20 meetings with the Red Devils (D8, L11). Their last victory in any competition at Old Trafford was a 5-3 win in the old First Division in September 1962.

United have scored at least once in their last 32 home matches against Burnley in the top flight, dating back to a 1-0 defeat in December 1921 - their longest home scoring streak against any team in their top flight history.

Manchester United have conceded just one goal in their last seven matches against Burnley in all competitions.

    RVP

Extremely worrying interview by lvg it will be interesting to see how united react, I still fully expect a big united win but it could also be the start of a bottle job.

    2 nil to united

Our home form hasn't been the problem, 28 from 36, second only to Chelsea, one of very few positives from Van Gaal is that he's made Old Trafford one of the toughest places to go to again unlike last season

Should pick up a win tonight, I'd like to see players playing in their best positions and less of the long ball/crossing though

Hopefully Long Ball van gaal has seen the light and put players back into their preferred position. Would be great to score a few goals and keep a clean sheet. No reason why we cannot do that against Burnley.

    Team I'd like to see.

    De Gea
    Rafael Jones smalling rojo
    Di Maria herrara blind Jacuzzi
    Rooney Falcao

Long ball van gaal. I'll give it to you. Didn't think your hysteria could get worse.

    Di Maria on the right?

What did the barman say when LvG walked into the bar?

    Why the long ball.

That doesn't even make sense in this context!

Anyways, United to win 2-1. I've an dreaded feeling with Shaw out we could see a return to 5-3-2.

    Fairly boring/standard 2-0 home win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,902 ✭✭✭MagicIRL

    United to win 1-0.

De Gea to belt it from the edge of his box right on to Fellaini's head. Marouane will then control it on his chest before rifling the ball in to the top left corner with his weaker foot. Van Gaal will leap from his technical area, tossing his beloved notebook in to the stands while tears stream down his face. With a bottle of champagne in one hand and a bag of cocaine in the other, he'll strip down to his jocks revealing a huge chest tattoo paying homage to his past successes and a hidden underlying long ball system at each club, all while he humps a blow-up doll with Big Sams face on it in front of the camera screaming "We're going to Europe".

Hoping for a good team line up. Don't want to see rvp and falcao together in the line up.

Any sniff of a line up?

Jesus Rooney in midfield yet again :(
I'd swap herrara with RVP and shove up Wayne.

Interesting that McNair starts ahead of Valencia, where the hell is Rafael?

    Jones and Evans start :(

LVG showing his stubbornness again. Januzaj really needs to step up tonight and repay some of the faith put in him by the manager.
Herrera must be getting extremely frustrated too constantly being on the bench.

    For width creativity and pace.

And Nani is in Portugal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,346 ✭✭✭Quandary

We can judge the man properly at the end of the season but if he gets us into the champions league while playing Rooney and Januzaj in a midfield 3 then he really is a fcuking genius.

On a positive note, we might be seeing McNair at right back again which could be interesting.

Hopefully Macnair will impress tonight again at RB.

We'll find Herrera in the foetal position at the corner flag over at Carrington at this rate.
