Hi, like many of a certain age I have a stockpile of old vinyl that I would like to start playing again - I'm in the market for an amp, speakers and a turntable with the ability to add a tape deck and CD player I bought from your old Dublin store about 20 years ago! My budget is limited, I can go €400 and maybe a little more. Delivery to Waterford. Any ideas / help appreciated

I'm thinking maybe Sony PSLX300 turntable withe the Cambridge AM5 And the Mission M33i Floorstanders, it's for quite a small room but I love a lot of bass, over budget at 534 but willing to pay a bit extra if necessary. What do you think?

    Hi Marc Agony.

    Apologies for the delay.

That system would work well together.

The AM5 is coming in at 159.99 Euro (Inc Delivery)

Mission M33i priced at 209.99 Euro (Inc Delivery)

Sony PSLX300 at 164.99 Euro (Inc Delivery)

While the Mission's are a floor standing speaker they still have only one base driver like a bookshelf. (Still a very nice sounding speaker)
If you could squeeze out another few Euro you could go for the Tannoy V4 priced at 269.99 Euro
    http://euro.richersounds.ie/p-12643-mercury-v4.aspx
These have two drivers giving deeper base.

Or you could drop to a bookshelf and get a more developed overall sound with something like the Monitor Audio MR priced at 219.99 Euro (Inc Delivery)

Although you may then also require some stands to set them on.

    Pixel T50 at 69.99 Euro

Let me know what you think.

    Any questions please just ask.

Thanks for the response, the room is only about 22 x 14ft, would the bookshelf be better suited to that size room? A 'more developed overall sound' does sound more appealing. Is the required cable include when I order online or do I need to specify that too? Again thanks for your help.

Hi The monitor audio MR2 bookshelf speakers are a great all rounder with a descent bass level that would fill the room.  At the same time they offer a better mid range and treble than the floorstanders.  You would have to budget for some cable too, something like the symphony 200 would do the job, which is €2 per meter
