Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He'd have buried all those chances last night and we'd have won 7-4 :pac:

He'll never be Falcao at his devasting best but if he doesnt improve on his 4 goals from his Utd days I'd be shocked.

I'm going to say 7-10 league goals for Falcao.

If he tops Drogba's tally from last year I'll be happy

Well I'd hope himself and Remy get clost to 7-10 league goals but what I really want is Costa to be injury free and he should be pushing 20 league goals again, there is however no way Costa will remain suspension free. :o

    Nothing official yet.

Its more of a fantasy signing anyway, his cost would be huge and you'd be going up against at least 1 bigger club than ours that would offer more money in Barca.

Mourinho criticising RLC again saying he's not going out on loan because he's no where near ready to play for us and the best place he can learn is with the first team

He praised Traore. I can only imagine hes nagging RLC because he knows the talent is there.

Yep €2m loan fee with an obligation to buy next season for €20m.

I'd be surprised if we kept Moses TBH. Traore will hopefully be kept around.

I suppose it depends on what happens with Cuadrado.

Should we be more balanced with the likes of Burnley or Norwich?

    Thought not.

To be fair all teams in the premier league are closer than in la liga. Did almeria get a result at the new camp last season?
Burnley did a number on us at the bridge before being the first to go down.

It's still a surprise if the 'bottom' teams beat us, we're expected to beat Burnley like Barca would be expected to beat almeria or PSG beating le mans.
And the tone of monkeys post, to me, suggests that Barca should be more balanced to Chelsea's level so we can compete. But where would that stop, do Madrid balance aswell to Chelsea's level or do we all balance to more like Galatasarys level or below, it could never work in the real world.

One significant difference between la liga and the epl is the goal difference rule. In la liga a drubbing doesn't impact your overall table position. In the Epl it could mean relegation. In Spain teams are culturally inclined "to have a go" (Especially because superior head to heads can mean European football.). Sometimes this means easier points for the top teams sometimes it means the opposite. Iirc Barcelona won the league this season because they only dropped 5 points against the top six. Most of their dropped points came against the the lower teams.

Valencia took a whopping 12 points against the top four.

Real Madrid took a paltry 4.

Arse it, don't think I'll bother watching any european football this season anyway, the competition is a joke

Ah they play decent-ish stuff now, the day Bojan signed was a bit of a change in style anyway!

Oh I agree with ya, theyre much better now than under Pulis but as long as Charlie Adam plays for them I'll despise them.

That also applies to any club he plays for in the future. The fact he only got booked for a forearm smash that broke Cescs nose at the Bridge doesnt help and a few minutes later he scored probably the goal of the season.

I wonder will we go back in for Stones? We know there was a bid, Martinez flipped the lid, said Chelsea were told in writing that under no circumstances Stones was for sale.

No improved bid has been tabled anyway, this is one that could drag on, its not a huge issue anyway as the guy has some EPL experience so it wouldnt be like signing a foreginer for the team in late August with no pre-season to prove himself and get up to speed.

Even though the price tag will be big, Stones will have no pressure, he wont be expected to play straight away but he'll get league cup and Champs League games to see how he does.

    Horrible performance

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

Really poor half of football. The only real positive was Begovic making a few good saves to keep it at 1-0.

Matic and Mikel look way off the pace with only 2 weeks till the start of the season.

Fabregas also never seems to have the same impact as a No. 10.

    Fabregas butchered that chance.
