Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Carlo would've done it if they invested in his second season, look how that turned out

The title was a scrap right until the end though. I thought we should have walked the league that year.

Carlo wasnt great when it came to changing games but hes probably the most liked Chelsea manager, the guy has such class.

During his 2nd season too his father died so he was back and forth to Italy a lot, so the stress he was under coupled with the job at hand must have been immense.

Yea I read that made me laugh. I think Bob is starting to feel a bit of heat, didn't really care if he came or not (I think Kalas is at least as good) but I do hope we get him now.

Martinez often get s afree poass for being the nice guy in football.

Dont like him, never have but managers often forget what they said only 12months ago.

Thats why it was great to see this last year.

wow I was only saying the other day he could be worth a punt to be first sacked this year if they get off to a rocky start.

Manager contracts mean nothing really. I dont think Pelligrini will win the EPL or UCL this year so he'll probably be out on his ear sooner than 2017.

I hope they keep him however, I dont think hes great. City have had fantastic squads and ok managers, a top tier manager at City and they steamroll the league and ,ake headway in Europe.

Starting to worry about Costa, whenever he is back lets say a couple of weeks it's just gonna feel like every game he plays in we're going to be waiting for his hammer to go again.

He had the whole summer to rest this yet there's a problem already after a couple of games.

looked like he was training yesterday going by courtois's instagram

I think hes been training all week.

The issue might be mental for him and that he doesnt think hes ready for 90mins. Hopefully not because we started like a train last year and he was the catalyst for that.

He was immense and we need him back like that this year. Theres nobody else in the team that his the fight that Costa does.

Be interesting to see who the surprise package will be in the fantasy football this weekend.

Kind of surprised that nobody seems to think that City have a chance of winning the league. When you've got Aguero doing his thing, you've always got a great chance.

And Silva and Sterling but I still dont think they'll win it.

I reckon its us or Arsenal.

    My guess is

    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    City
    Utd

2nd to 4th will be tight, we'll win it by 2 to 5 pts at the most.

Their midfield isnt good enough. Neither is their defence. They wont win it unless they buy better. Delph is a good player but he's not the answer.

Can only see the same top 4 as last season positions may change but the same 4.

If we are lucky with injuries could win it again as our starting 11 is possibly the best in the league. But bad luck with injuries and suspensions and it could be 4th at best as well.

Looking forward to seeing how MvG, Bamford and Atsu (if he gets a game injury just came at the wrong time) get on.

Might be points-free as it's so early in the season maybe?

Any Jose press conference today or did he do it yesterday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

Jose's press conf from official Twitter

'The real football starts tomorrow, I think everybody's waiting for it
he will go with Remy or Falcao if Diego Costa is unavailable for tomorrow's game.

'We need a left-back, the board know that and my feeling is that we are going to have one.'

'I believe the teams who aren't title contenders will be stronger, the gap between the top and others will be shorter.'

Let's try to be a good team and be here in March or April speaking about winning something.'

Slightly worried about this game. We had a poor preseason, hoping they perform

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

Courtois having treatment on the pitch . Might have picked up a knock in the warm up

Did they say what happened to Courtois? FF already going down the pot! :pac:

Didn't he get a hat-trick in this fixture last year?

Bit nervous about this one, tbh. First game of the season is always really slow going. Reckon we will do it but it won't be pretty.

Yeah Costa scored 5 against swansea last year home and away

Tbo cleared to play and Costa starting. More confident than I was this morning anyway.

Oscar from a free kick. It was actually a cross

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

2-1 mad game willian. Minute after swansea equalised

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,259 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

    FFS Willian, get out!!!

I also think Courtois was way too quick to come off his line and it was a terrible attempt at getting anywhere near the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,431 ✭✭✭rottie 11

Should have left oscar on imo. He was one of the better players in first half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭hots

Frustratingly we were actually playing well enough... Hardly got a decision for the whole game. A better draw then u thought we would get.
