Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oscar is still out but in contention for Wednesday.

Thibaut Courtois needs knee surgery, and will be out for 'quite a long time'.

    FVCK

it isn't easy to have 'the best goalkeeper in the world' injured. Says Begovic is 'one of the best goalkeepers in the world'.

the signing of Papy Djilododji was not his choice. But: "Was the choice of someone I trust completely. The same thing."

Oscar won't be available tomorrow but is 'almost there' and could be in contention to feature next Wednesday.

'We are strong, together. I believe in the players, they believe in me. We are positive.'

'Every game is important. We are in the title race but we need points. We go with the intention to win the match.'

So no Oscar, was thinkig it was too early for him.

Leaves us with a 2 options for #10.

    Willian or Cesc.

Willian plays and its Cesc and Matic and we're soft in the middle
Cesc plays there and one of Pedro or Willian doesnt play RW and is benched, probably means a Mikel or Zouma in CDM next to Matic.

Of course Cesc could be dropped and Zouma partners Matic with Willian at 10, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Shows why he was dropped from the UCL squad so then.

Last thing we need is another run of poor results or the specualtion will start, which is a scary reminder of how he went out the last time after a limp start to the season.

Don't think this is the game for Kenedy and with Tbo out I'd expect JT & Cahill to be the back two. Would be more than happy for Zouma to go in at RB or CDM.

Oh bums. Can we have Cech back please?

Thats what I'd like to see, in truth it is more then likely going to be

    Begovic
    Ivan Cahill JT Azp
    Matic Zouma
    Pedro Cesc Hazard
    Costa

I'd drop Cesc and put Willian in. As much as Ivan has been poison too much shuffling at the back wouldn't be ideal at the moment. The midweek game could be a better idea.

Willians travelling back from the States might stand against him.

TBH, I'm not entirely bothered with the starting XI as long as they get the job done.

Piazon with an assist in his reading debut in a 5-1 win.

Last season we were blessed with injuries and suspensions things really going against us early this season. As long as Begovic does not do a Cudicini we will be fine from a goalkeeping view, be good to see Blackman in a proper game at Walsall as well.

He has to drop Ivan tomorrow he is worse than useless at the minute.

Ya last year barring a small injury spree with costa and remy we were ok.

If we lose Begovic for a few weeks we'll be screwed.

Anyway tomorrow is huge, big game and one of our trickiest away games. Best thing is we get Etihad and Goodison out of the way after 5 games worse thing is we could lose both. :o

Nervous about this. Must win a tough tough away ground. Come on Chels!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,247 ✭✭✭what a day

Your right gavv with the starting line up but id like Jose to shake things up and play...........
    as a striker. no

    Bego
    Dave--Zouma-JT-Rahman
    Fab---Matic
    Pesto
    Willan----Hazard
    Costa

Id like to see Kenedy play on the right flank as he is a lefty.
Wouldn mind see Mikel start instead of Fab either.

Chelsea XI vs. Everton: Begovic; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry, Azpilicueta; Mikel, Matic; Pedro, Fabregas, Hazard; Diego Costa.

Happy enough to see Mikel in there with Matic, we need to tighten things up and protect the back 4 a bit more.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

It's good to see us start with two holding midfielders given how badly Fabregas has struggled in CM of late.
Hopefully it frees up Fabregas to excel going forward at the very least.

Zouma at CB should give the team some more recovery pace alongside JT and he should be well able to cope with Lukaku in terms of pace and physicality.

I can't understand how Ivanovic seems undroppable at the moment...
Unless Mourinho is waiting until the Capital One Cup game to blood Rahman in the team it makes no sense.
He did something similar with Azpilicueta at LB when Cole was out-of-form two years ago.

I'd imagine Baba will start on Wednesday and hopefully keep his place from then. Jose wouldn't throw him into Everton away anyway he was always going to stick with Ivanovic, it won't be much longer until he's dropped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Simple scenario, if the front four are on song we've an excellent chance of winning this game.

We really the back 4 to be on top of everything today though to give those ahead of them a chance.

A face you'd love to punch, annoying antics against Ireland as well.

Ivan again leaving a winger come in around the back unnoticed.
