sea fishing east coast

    hi all,,anybody know the best place to sea fish,,from beach,rocks,mouth of rivers,anywhere around balbriggan area,,,or a bit futher a field,but not to far,,like anyone know what gormanstown beach is like,,or the mouth of the boyne river,or donabete clifts,,,need some info please

    In general, that whole area is pretty poor for sea fishing, either from the shore or in a boat. You can drive to Donegal and be fishing in 3 hours - probably a better bet.

    If you must fish this area, at the mouth of the river in Laytown you can get bass - actually you can get them all the way along that coast although there aren't many around right now. Mornington at the mouth of the Boyne, you can get mackerel in season too. Clogherhead can be good for mackerel in season, although you'll have to race the seals when you wind in. Otherwise you can fish for miniature pollack, gurnard, etc. I've often spent an afternoon fishing for sprats (yes, rather small hooks) due to boredom. The beach at Greenore can be good for bass, seatrout and mackerel.

    In other words, there isn't a lot - the links above are funny, though!

    Head down south a bit - Wexford or Wicklow would be better.
