Hi all,

Here is a little aid to solar observing and how to do it safely. Not specific to the March 20th solar eclipse in mind, it can serve as a guide to allow beginners see what they can use to observe the Sun safely. Also included in the Articles section on the IFAS website here.

Can the eclipse shades be worn over glasses (spectacles)? The moon is an unfocused blob for me without glasses so presume the sun would be the same. Thanks.

Hi Mick,

Yes they can, so you will enjoy them with your own glasses. Keep them in front of the lens, not in front of the eye under the lenses.

IFAS will have solar shades in the next couple of weeks. Member clubs will get these free. More ifnormation on that here:
