This place is lovely, and some great forests nearby for dog walking

I didn't! I was there visiting a friend, and thought the place was lovely... very dog friendly from the point of view of safety, but also the people living there love their pooches

It's not SE, but can thoroughly recommend the Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, W Cork. Can't link to their website ATM, but they're very dog-friendly. Ask for the room with the private yard. You can let the dog out to do his business (providing of course you have bags!! ), and the owners are very accomodating. Tel: 028 20600.
