Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The first time the teams have met at Deepdale since 1972 in a 2-0 win for United in the FA Cup.

    Team news:

Preston: Former Leeds and Everton striker Jermaine Beckford will be absent for the tie due to an ear infection.

Joe Garner is expected to make his second consecutive start after recovering from a knee injury he picked up in November.

Manchester United: Robin van Persie is a doubt for the Reds with a knock, as is Phil Jones after he limped out of United's midweek win over with a knee injury.

Daley Blind was also forced out of that match with a head injury but should feature.

Michael Carrick is out with a calf injury, but Luke Shaw returns from a one-match suspension he picked up for his red card against West Ham last weekend.

Looking forward to this one. Hopefully some game time for Herrera and Fellaini and potentially slap Rooney up front

We'll take non-weekend matches where we can find them.

Ig-ignore that this is a Monday.

United are due a big performance and I like the selection of Fellaini if he is playing that role where he gets into the box and causes problems off high balls. I really think United will benefit hugely from his presence there. All it takes is a couple of successful knockdowns and Preston will have to mark him tighter and that will leave gaps for United to expose.

I absolutely love this XI, really hope they destroy Preston and make LVG stick with that midfield. We actually have 3 centre mids starting and Rooney advanced!

This game is perfect for hererra to show he should be featuring more often. Hope he takes this game by the scruff !

Bar Valencia and Smalling that'd be my preferred 11, shame it's only Preston as I'd prefer to see it against a PL team.

United should really be winning this handily. 4-0.

Just focus on this game and worry about the next round if we make it. Should be a tight affair. Preston no doubt will be up for it. On paper we should walk it but as we all now that's not the case. Personally I don't mind how well we play as long as we come away with the win!
