Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Young with a goal line clearance!

How have the commentators not mentioned the zero contact?

Martin Keown, who has been anti-United all night, acknowledged no contact but that once the keeper went out like he did the ref had no choice. Also said Rooney dived out of the way of the impending collision. The keeper really fúcked up there and many another professional apart from Rooney would have hit the deck too. Not justifying it, just the way the modern game is.

Dive all day long for me, we were due one by now sure. Rooney's really just taking one for Ashley Young as part of Young's redemption/renaissaince. :pac:

We a terrible at defending the front post from corners. That really needs to be addressed.

Wonder how much dwelling people would spend if United should have had two players sent off. Don't care it's the fa cup, dowd is an awful ref

Yeah a bit baffling really. I guess he is England captain. Only explanation for it.

Same for all the debatable ones sturrige and sterling get, must be the english connection

Lads, we can say Rooney was avoiding being hit by the goalies slide tackle and it is a penalty.

But for all the other lads waiting in the wings, interminably waiting... for anything to jump on. This is it. You can't have what you want (us being dumped out) so you'll have to settle for this. You have you take what you can get I guess.

Don't think you can blame dowd for giving it. Looked stonewall from his angle.

Pity to see the underdogs going out to a team who had to cheat to progress. :(

Too overweight means he can't keep up with play.

You can blame him for being far too fat and slow for a top level ref causing him to shamble up to the incident way to far back to be able to get a reasonable look at the incident.

    Still a penalty though.

Great result especially after going a goal down. Not the greatest performance once again but we looked much more comfortable in the midfield area.
Nice to be on a fa cup run this year and a classic with arsenal in store. Then onto Wembley to beat Liverpool in the final after a gerrard mistake!!

Commentators afraid to call it for what it is. Shameful.

Seriously , that's all morale high ground rubbish. It's being clever and all players do it. Keeper was stupid to come rushing out like that and give him the opportunity.

    Keown: Rooney dived

    Other commentator: Rooney run impeded?

Keown: Yeah the goalkeeper has to get out of the way there.

    Lol

Suarez Aguero Sanchez Messi Ronaldo all would have done what Rooney did.

Only because they scored a goal that should've been disallowed for offside. Poor refereeing won ye the game.
    Nothing else

It's clearly offside for the first goal. He impedes the keeper as he can't fully committ to the save because Rooney is within touching distance of the ball to change the flight of the ball. If Rooney isn't there, the keeper saves it every day of the week.

Thats not the rule, thats just poor judgement from the goalie plain and simple. There is 0 impedement.

Equally terrible. He had a terrible game all round. Terrible ref all round to be honest. Nowhere near the standard of fitness required for this level.

Neville will jump in and deny it before Hodgson answers.

How about that penalty United should have had in the first half when Fellani got his nose busted open?

I'm going to be 100% honest and say I joined the game late, so unfortunately I can't comment on that.

Wouldn't surprise me with Down though.

Its gas how the non united fans still cling to the fact that Rooney was "offside" when Simon Grayson even admitted he wasn't. But sure. Ye all know better I'm sure :pac:

No, he said he wasn't in his line of view, he wasnt questioned about the fact it was interfering.

I also have nothing against United and just watch the game as a neutral.

Hodgson: No, I think he's just taking evasive action.

Phil Neville is defending Rooney better than Johnnie Cochran ever could.

He had to get out of the way!!!

    Evasive action, i.e cheating.
