The unwritten rules of Wrestling

Undefeated streaks will always be beaten.

If there's a Spanish announce table at a PPV, chances are someone is going through it.

A schoolboy/rollup will easily defeat someone who's been dominating you physically through the entire match.

    Cena is never going Heel.

Contract signings will always end in a fight.

If you retire you will be back within 2 years. Unless you're Shawn Michaels.

Finishers seem to lose 40% of their effectiveness at Wrestlemania.

    What else?

If you hit Ric flair he will bleed.

If a gust of wind hits a referee, he will take a bump and sell for 5 minutes

All moves are 300% more effective if carried out backstage or in a survivor series match.

Wrestlers making surprise returns will always tip off the sound and video guys prior to making an unannounced appearance so that their music and tron come on at the right moment.

Cameramen are invisible backstage unless an interview is being given. As a result heels often explain their plans to the world without realising.

Faces dont watch Raw afterwards and therefore remain unaware of these backstage plots unless they personally witnessed it.

You cannot climb a ladder as quickly as you normally would in real life. The gravitational pull inside a wrestling ring is much stronger than at other points on the planet, and therefore your steps will be much slower.

When having a heated verbal disagreement with someone, you must never interrupt; instead, wait patiently for him or her to finish what they want to say before you respond. You know, like what happens in real life.

You can only break up one pin in a tag match. Called "burning your tag".

You must be holding the tag rope to be available for the tag.

Doubt either of them are actually written down or followed each time.

Referees can't hear illegal chairshots, if he didn't see it, it didn't happen.

If a Heel's manager gets up on the apron a referee will always go over to see what he has to say.

Special guest referees, like Cena or Henry or anyone of strength, will just be as weak as regular referees when someone hits them

A car accident can't actually injure or kill you.

If you have a problem with your boss you air your issue in front of 16,000+ in the ring rather than in his office.

A managers licence is required to manage talent but is somehow not required If you're a wrestler yourself.

You must defend your title within a 30 day period. Unless of course you're Brock Lesnar in which case you may defend on whatever show suits you.

Developmental is there for talent to improve and learn, if they start getting to good it is perfectly acceptable to b!tch and moan backstage but not say anything to the brass.

You are not eligible for the Hall Of Fame or for certain positions in WWE if you have anything an 8 year old can google that is inappropriate.

It it perfectly okay for b!tchy smarks to hijack shows and alter your storylines meaning your Main Event of the biggest show of the year will have the same story as last year aswell as the same possible winner
(The last one really p!sses me off)

Definitely not the case with Ken Shamrock and Mike Tyson ;)

Matches can occur at a moments notice and 99% of them are arranged without a contract. Contracts are only required when someone remembers.

No I think that might be in the actual WWE Handbook now ;)

DDTs are nowhere near as deadly as they were in the late 80s, early 90s.

Regardless of how long the two members know each other, even if they're brothers, cousins, lifelong friends or whatever: a tag team will always eventually split up for a feud at some stage.

Although Id love to hear of any teams that were exceptions to this rule.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,520 ✭✭✭Hashtag_HEEL

You have until the count of 5 to get off of the top rope. Unless of course you do that Flippy s#!t in which case the referee will give you all the time you need.

Weapons such as chairs, tables, Singapore canes etc. are allowed in hardcore matches. You however are not allowed to bring a shotgun to the ring and tell your opposed to lay down for a three count.

It's perfectly acceptable to pull a gun on an intruder in your home. However the USA network will complain that you did.

It's perfectly acceptable to trash another persons car, home or property without police involvement.

If somebody calls you by your real name you're in for a beating!

A face must always win a steel cage match by pin/submission. Heels may only escape the cage.

Cage matches are designed to keep both competitors in and others out. This however is void when people scale the cage or have a set of lock cutters.

It is possible for a crowd cheering your name to give you the physical power to beat an opponent after being beaten down for 10+ minutes (This also includes taking a DDT on concrete and beating two men afterwards)

If you are fired you must come to shows after you have been fired. You do so in your merchandise, on the TV side and you are permitted to jump the barricade.

If someone is about to jump you backstage the camera/lighting/stage crew or interviewer are powerless to help.

    Finally (for now)
You (what) must speak in (what) incomplete sentences (what) so annoying (what) smarks from (what) 2000 can (what) think they're cool. (What)

Great list. Just goes to show what kind of following SCSA had that 16, 17 years later it still happens on almost every single Raw.

    (WHAT?)

If you are Rey Mysterio's opponent you will fall onto the middle rope numerous times throughout the match, despite never having done so before

Looks completely spontaneous compared to Reigns basement kick or Ambrose's stupid bounce off the middle rope. I almos miss the usos vaulting over the top ropes

Turn every smackdown promo into a tag team match, playa

"...and his partners The Big Show and Kane" are the 8 most depressing words in the English language.

You rarely (if ever) get disqualified for holding someone in a corner and giving them a pounding. Ref will count up to about five and try to break it up.

Heel tag team use the ring rope to isolate/choke opponent and when tag partner tries to alert the referee, they get penalised for it.

A 10 count to get back in the ring can last anywhere up to 1 minute, while a 5 count to break at the ropes is exact.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,256 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

They can go to air for a wrestling show with absolutely no plans on who will be fighting in the main event until they see what wrestlers come out in the first 20 minutes.

A chair shot or the use of any weapon can leave a guy out cold, unless it's a hardcore match then it's like getting hit with a standard move.

Scotty 2 hotty had the most powerful move in wrestling with his bulldog, since it left his opponent down on the ground while Scotty did evrything he does prior to hitting the WORM.

Any time John Cena does something impressive strength wise, it's always the first time the commentary team has seen it.

If you were to build a pro wrestler from the ground up, it would look like Randy Orton.
