Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

3.5mm to rca or digital to analogue converter?

Hey guys. Recently decided to buy some new headphones which require amping but my amp only has rca inputs and my tv only has an optical output and a headphone output (it has rca connections but they are inputs not outputs)

My understanding is that i could buy a cheap 3.5mm to rca cable and run that from the headphone jack to the amp ...... which would technically work.

However. Its rarely suggested and most people recommend buying a digital to analogue converter and run an optical cable from the tv to the converter and then an rca cable from the converter to the amp .... which of course works also but is more expensive.

My question is... whats the difference? I mean both methods involve feeding an analogue signal to the amp right?

However (i may be wrong) but i think by using a converter you bypass the tvs amp ? where as if you use the jack you wind up double amping? which must be a bad thing as its rarely recommended!

    Can anyone explain ?
