Would love to see the "nearly man" win a major.
Love his attitude and exuberance in the Ryder Cup matches.

Good position now on the par 5.

He knows a win isnt on for him, but if he can play like this tomorrow he might feel confident enough to feel that a top 10 finish could be on for him.

Woods on + 1 after all his bad shots. Not too shabby at all.

Used Darren Clarke think like that too in majors?

Tiger looking like a guy that hasn't played a whole lot of golf. Next 3 a big test. Wouldn't rule out him finishing at +4

Sergio with the look of a man thinking he knew it couldnt last after that second to 15. Towel mentally thrown in right there.

Wouldnt rule him out winning the USPGA. Looks healthy. Early in the season I know, but he does have 15th major written all over him.

I agree, Tiger has actually played really well today for a guy who's spent so long out and has struggled with his game when he has played. Hopefully he stays fit and pushes on this year.

Phew :) Just misses his birdie

Been impressed with Woods, his short game seems to be fixed at least. Why he cant stop that dip at the top of his backswing with the driver is a mystery to me though. Its surely causing most of his driving issues.

Not convinced Speith can hold it together for 4 days of a Major.

+1 Having caved in under pressure and achieved T2/2/1 in his last three PGA events, I can see where you're coming from

He's ranked 4th in the OWGR in case you hadn't noticed.

Some fantastic stuff being played, really enjoyable first day. If spieth had birdied the 15th as he probably would have expected to he would've had the 62.

And a win last weekend would have put him up to no.2

Yes,tap in birdie coming up on 16, 5 in a row. Given favourable conditions tomorrow a.m Speith, Day,Garcia could leave a big " ask" for the afternoon pairings!

Last 3 events isnt enough to make a proper call on a player. He's talented for sure but has shown a lack of killer instinct in those 3 events you have cited above. However, and this is crucial in my opinion, Speith will have to hold it together against a couple of world top 10 players this week. A cut above Johnson Wagner you might say. And the lack of killer instinct leads me to suspect he will be defeated. Could be wrong as he's great to watch etc but just my hunch

Edit: and no need for the sarcastic +1. It's just an opinion

That's twice now jimmy walker has flew the green from great positions in the fairway. Lack of experience around Augusta hurting him.

Jimmy Walker is the new Jim Furyk in waiting

In what way?? He has managed to win 4 times in just over a year. Don't think furyk has won in 4 years. He also hits the ball about 50 yards further than furyk.

Ha they just remind me of each other. And when Furyk is on the Seniors Tour, Walker will take his place in my eyes trundling around and solid as a rock

The pure drivel off the cuff shouts from some is cringeworthy in here

Did well on his debut last year.
