Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shalka keeper looking comfortable on the ball so far. Fair play to the young fella

I'd be cashing in on Ronaldo in the summer if i was Perez. Time to let Bale shine.

A gift from the young keeper.

0-1 Ronaldo. What a superb pass from Carvajal.

The game is definitely over as a contest with huntelaar going off injured

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Rezident

Silly foul there but why does Ronaldo have to roll around on the ground like a little baby, he's already got his free kick?

    What a save

Excellent save from Keeper stopping that Ronnie Free Kick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

It was a comfortable height and distance from him. He would have been criticised if he didn't save it tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,079 ✭✭✭DenMan

It's all far too easy for Madrid now tbh! They're very comfortable.

It was a great save from a rasping shot, then he put off Ronaldo (JB loathe to give him any credit)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,128 ✭✭✭✭Oranage2

Free kick was a good save, not much he could have done about the goal but he made it easy, should have stayed on his line would have still been a goal but he looks better.

Unlucky from schalke. Terrible from Marcelo.
Cracking atmosphere in the stadium now

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,610 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

What's Ronaldo's stats from free kicks i wonder, anytime i see him hit one it usually goes straight into the wall or over the bar/wide.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭keith16

Casillas somehow managing to put his clearance out for a corner.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35,514 ✭✭✭✭efb

    Wow! What a goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

No chance for the keeper with that one.

Any reason they celebrated with Ancoletti? Great goal too.

Schalke a bit unlucky to be two down here.

That goal keep watching it on vine - Ronaldo some footwork and great finish by Marcelo

Typical sucker punch with schalke hitting the bar and real scoring shortly after. Didnt realise how many injuries schalke have, young lad in goal done pretty well for em. Tie over in any case.

LOL smartarse :P players usually celebrate with the manager when there is a reason i.e he stuck up for them or he was under criticism.

2 freekicks in the game one on target one off the wall, any freekick taker prob misses the target more than not. Id say Roonies %s are on the high side but no stats

Are RTE enforcing a no-hair policy for the panel? ( Darragh being the exception).

Maybe they offer a bonus, less money spent in the Hair and makeup department.

Argument over Ronaldo's birthday party was more entertaining than the match.

Jaysus did everyone see that? Ronaldo scored without being handed a penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,507 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Kenny really loves the word "naive"

I don't know what the big fuss is. Ronaldo doesn't drink reputedly. I'm sure the Irish soccer team weren't out celebrating after getting humbled in Euro 2012 either.

He really is muck at them. Just smashes them and hopes for the best more often than not. By the law of averages one has to go in every now and then, and in fairness it does be a screamer because he just smashes it, but most of the time the goalie doesn't even have to move. Woeful at them

He does this big wide stance thing and a big run up but nearly always it ends up a useless effort. Real Madrid probably have better free kick takers that don't get to take them.

Am not just talkin about the match tonight. He has a lot to his game obviously, but free kicks is not one of his strong points as far as I can see. My guess would be his percentages on free kicks wouldn't be on the high side.
