I'd say if Putin himself admitted involvement, you'd say he was an American doppelganger

Vladi already has & the delusion is still strong.

And I asked earlier if Russia had invaded Ukraine then why would hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians seek refuge in the land of the aggressor?
Did hundreds of thousands of Polish refugees stream into Germany in 1939 after the nazis invaded? Or did French civilians pile into the Rhineland in search of refuge in 1941?
    Because they are Russians.

Stalin moved Russians into Ukraine, the Baltic States and there were other efforts to colonise/Russify Western lands under the early Soviet Union and the Russian Empire.

Stalin in particular almost totally destroyed Estonia, fortunately much of that was reversed. Still a legacy though.

Same in Ukraine. The Eastern Ukraine is occupied by people who do not, and never have considered themselves Ukrainian. Of course they will go back to the Motherland when it all kicks off.

You could have a fact-finding mission to Ukraine and they could find zero evidence of Russian invasions or occupations yet the suits in Washington would just ignore the facts and state that they have proof. They wouldn't show the proof (because it doesn't exist), just keep lying and lying and lying until they get their war.
Proof .... facts ..... evidence.. There doesn't have to be any, just repeat a lie over and over and people will believe anything. It has often been asked how did Hitler so easily mesmerise and captivate the German population? He and his pal Goebbels just repeated "Jews and Communists" over and over, the result - 6m dead Jews and about 27m Russians.
Listen Egg, say "Russian aggression" over and over and over and over and over .... Lets nuke Moscow!! woo hoo!!
    Because they are Russians.
I never knew Stalin was Russian!

None of us who accept that Putin's a prick want to see Moscow (or anywhere else for that matter) nuked.

So, are any of the Putiniks going to offer their opinions on whether Russia should return Kaliningrad/Königsberg to Germany?

Can you give a single reason why Kaliningrad should be "returned" to Germany?
I think its a very valuable and strategically important possession to have when an immoral and criminal organisation is trying to surround and destabilise Russia.
By the way, all the Allies agreed at the Potsdam Conference in 1945 that Kaliningrad (formerly East Prussia) should become part of the Soviet Union.

That is stretching the bounds of sanity.

What are you saying, that the Russians would knock up some cardboard villages and have their troops dress up as civvies farting about the place pretending to locals in order throw the scent off?

    :pac:

No, they'd move the soldiers to somewhere else while you visited.

If Crimea is Russian territory because they have a history there, then the same should apply to Königsberg.
By the way, all the Allies agreed at the Potsdam Conference in 1945 that Kaliningrad (formerly East Prussia) should become part of the Soviet Union.
The Russian Supreme Soviet agreed that in 1954 Crimea should become part of the Ukrainian SSR, and the Presidium of the Soviet Union agreed to change their constitution to accommodate for the changing of borders between Soviet republics, and in 1997 the Russian Federation agreed to respect Ukraine's sovereignty over Crimea.

    Something is going on

Russian Prime minister Dmitry Medvedev has been canned expect to see or hear his resignation in the next few days and been replaced with the former minister for defence Sergei Ivanov .

The decision to cede Kaliningrad to the Soviet Union, now Russia of course, was an international agreement that still stands.
The 1954 Crimea decision was not an international agreement, it was nothing more than Khrushchev's signature on a piece of paper and has no relevance today.

I think Putin can not be trusted to ever negotiate in good faith, so the idea of ever reaching a 'diplomatic solution' with him is naive.

the Germans and French are "naive" maybe you should pass on that advice to them so tell them they are wasting their time. at the moment a diplomatic solution is stopping the violence and getting both sides to pull back. whilst the ceasefire isnt perfect its better than what has gone before it and in the main its holding. diplomacy appears to be working.
he has proven to be one of the most outrageous liars one could imagine.

he isnt the only one telling lies. with all due respect if you believe its just the pootin and only the pootin telling lies and its only the truth or whatever coming from the various other actors involved on the otherside its yourself thats naive.
You can try to negotiate with a liar but you shouldn't have any expectation he will ever keep his word.

maybe we should just do away with politics entirely if thats the case.
Sure, let the German's have a crack at trying to reach a diplomatic solution with a serial liar, it's worth a try - third time lucky maybe? I don't hold out much hope though.

like I said the diplomatic solution at the moment is stopping the violence. the Russians are never going to hand Crimea back whether you or I agree with that or not. the only way thats going to happen is if someone takes it off them.
I welcome the saber rattling the Americans are engaged in, because without it, there isn't the slightest chance Putin would actually stick with any negotiated deal. Have you ever considered that perhaps the saber rattling and the German efforts are an intentional good-cop, bad-cop effort?

you cant play good cop bad cop with a nuclear power. because nukes. nobody should ever welcome "saber rattling" when nuclear powers are involved.
I think Putin's intentions are to absorb the entirety of Ukraine and the other Baltic sates. that's why he's so negative about arming Ukraine.

I think if Putin is going to go any further in Ukraine he will boil them slowly let them implode from within. their intelligence services are comprised and riddled with Russians. then some pro-Russian leader will pop up in the remainder of Ukraine. then again that would be a lot of hassle even getting that to come to pass. this idea that Putin is going to "absorb" or whatever the Baltic states ( Nato members ) to me is just ludicrous. its nonsense.
He's probably planning some atrocity he can blame on Ukraine as a pretext for a sudden and large scale blitzkrieg invasion to seize the whole country quickly and so doesn't want Ukraine better armed an d so able to put up a costly resistance.

ok so lets say he is planning some atrocity to blame Ukraine what did you have in mind? what do you think he is planning....

Putin is so corrupt, and is akin to that of a Mafia boss... KGB agent to going into power from 1999, having passed his presidency temporarily to have the term of stay raised from 4 years to 6 years, obvious election rigging... how the hell did he suddenly become one of the richest people in the world with at LEAST $40billion to as far as $70billion...

Russia have come a long way since their laws up to the 1980's forbade citizens in engaging in what they called 'Speculation' which was considered an economic crime. Speculation was defined as the purchase and sale of goods and other objects with the intention of making a profit.

Anyone know if there's a thread somewhere discussing the rumoured convoy of trucks going into the Kremlin?

They've apparently since left(doubtful if there's any significance to trucks tbh), journalists have been told to hang around for the weekend so whatever the announcement of the weekend is. It sounds likely to be big.

Doesn't appear to be anywhere reputable reporting it. And embassy have denied it to best of knowledge so I'd be doubtful of that being true tbh.

Ah there's nothing like following these despotic megalomaniac dictator threads when the subject of the thread up and disappears.

    Hysterical.

Will he show up on monday and declare himself emperor, or will he show up on monday hanging from a rope? Impossible to say.

Obviously the russian constitution has been shredded to insignificance at this point but does anyone there know whos actually in charge of the country? Do the russian press know but are unable to say?

What has the Russian "constitution" got to do with you? If you're so enamoured by the "constitutions" in foreign countries then should you not start with a few who live in your own glass house? More journalists have been whacked in Erdogan's by a long chalk than in Vlad's Russia, a Turkey is a member of your club. Turkey also annexed half of Cyprus.....much like the whole Crimea thing, but no outrage there. Come on lads, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Because its fascinating. The russian leader has disappeared and official sources appear to be lying about his whereabouts.

So where's Medvedev? Is he in charge now? If Putin died who would take over?

    All legitimate questions.

Turkey? Huh? Now you're just babbling...

If Putin is president and medvedev is prime minister, who takes over if putin is dead?

Is there a Vice president? Or does the Prime Minister take over?

Prime Minister takes over to best of my knowledge, that's why there's rumours there's invididuals that want Medvedev out.
